Chapter 3: The Third Young Miss, the Good-for-Nothing (3)
The ancestor glared coldly at the group of people gathered on the floor, their faces ashen with fear. He withdrew his force, sneering, "A bunch of useless wretches. The Luo family has fallen so far in your generation that any seventh-level expert could wipe you all out!"
Luo Jingfeng's words were brutally honest. Luo Anrong's strength barely reached mid-tier at the fifth level and had failed to reach its pinnacle after years of effort, let alone advance further. If it weren't for Luo Jingfeng's reputation, how could the Luo residence enjoy its current prosperity?
The pressure eased, but everyone felt as if they had just returned from the gates of hell. Their faces were pale, their bodies trembling.
"You are right, Father. I'll make sure they train harder," Luo Anrong murmured, bowing his head, his cheeks flushed with shame.
"Hmph! Hurry up and bring Luo Xia here!"
He refused to believe that the girl once prophesied as the future empress could possibly be a worthless fool.
Luo Yi clenched her fists in secret, furious that her grandfather still thought of that useless girl.
"Father, perhaps we should just forget about Luo Xia..."
"Hmm?"
Interrupted by the ancestor, Luo Anrong felt a surge of murderous intent. He had wanted to say that Luo Xia's presence would only further anger the old man, but now it seemed the ancestor would not rest unless he saw her.
Since that was the case, he would let the old man give up hope once and for all.
With a glance from Luo Anrong, the steward understood.
The steward was about to leave, when unexpectedly, Luo Yi spoke up.
"Grandfather, I'll go fetch Luo Xia."
The ancestor turned to Luo Yi, and the killing intent in his eyes softened slightly.
Luo Anrong, ever attentive, urged, "Go quickly, Yi."
Luo Yi flashed a sweet smile.
Luo Xia, I’ll go get you. You’re as good as dead.
Luo Yi used light footwork and left the testing hall.
Meanwhile, Xiao Die still hadn't fed the pill to Xiao Man. The pill was struck away by Luo Xia's whip!
Xiao Die glared angrily at Luo Xia.
Luo Xia played with her whip, mocking, "Bi Zhu is badly hurt. Without the pill..."
Xiao Die understood immediately!
If she didn’t save Bi Zhu, then Xiao Man could not be rescued!
Fuming, Xiao Die helped Bi Zhu up and fed her a pill.
Hmph, if they dare swallow it, later she’d force them to vomit it out!
If they couldn’t, they’d be doomed!
"Is that enough now?" If looks could kill, Luo Xia would have died a thousand deaths under Xiao Die’s glare.
Luo Xia lifted her gaze coldly, eyes full of murderous intent. "Do you think I’d be foolish enough to let you leave?"
Xiao Die’s heart sank, but she tried to remain calm. "You really want to kill us? Aren’t you afraid of the eldest miss?"
Luo Xia played with the pill in her hand. "The mouths of the dead are the tightest. Besides, who would believe I have the ability to kill you, right?"
"You dare!"
---
Just as Xiao Die finished speaking, Luo Xia’s whip mercilessly struck the unconscious Xiao Man. Xiao Man’s ruined hand was wrenched from her body!
"Ah!"
The pain woke Xiao Man from her faint. She opened her eyes only to see her arm had been severed, screamed in agony, and then passed out again.
Blood poured onto the floor.
Xiao Die was stunned by the scene.
The former useless third miss used to faint just from being frightened, let alone being beaten. Whenever they hit her, she’d cry and beg for mercy. But now...
"Xiao Die, it’s your turn. Xiao Man lost her hand, so how about you lose your leg?" Luo Xia squatted before her, grinning wickedly.
"No!" Xiao Die shrank in terror.
She didn’t want to become disabled!
"You think your refusal matters?" Luo Xia’s voice sounded to Xiao Die like the whisper of a demon from Hell. She never imagined the third miss could be so ruthless.
"A second-tier alchemist’s pill, and wound medicine." Xiao Die quickly produced a pill and a bottle of wound medicine.
"Miss..." Bi Zhu awoke then, her voice barely audible.
"This pill will ease the pain, and the wound medicine will help the scar heal faster." Though unwilling, Xiao Die could only hand over her prized pill.
Luo Xia’s eyes brightened, and she snatched the medicines away.
She had nothing now; without looting some medicine, how could she heal?
"Miss... may I return now?" Xiao Die still nurtured a sliver of hope. If she could reach the eldest miss and report, the third miss would be finished.
Luo Xia first swallowed a first-tier pill, then gave the second-tier pill to Bi Zhu.
Bi Zhu tried to resist but was overpowered.
"Come here and apply the wound medicine to Bi Zhu," Luo Xia ordered. Xiao Die had no choice; the sight of Xiao Man’s misery had shaken her deeply.
With tears in her eyes, she medicated Bi Zhu, glancing at Xiao Man whose breath was faint.
"Be gentle. If Bi Zhu cries out in pain, I’ll break your legs," Luo Xia threatened.
Shivering, Xiao Die replied, "Understood."
Luo Xia was pleased.
Just moments ago, weren’t they arrogant?
Now, can they still be?
She didn’t even bother to look at Xiao Man, who had fainted from pain. Anyone who dared to bully her deserved to die ten times over.
Xiao Die felt she must have run into the plague god today.
After tending to Bi Zhu and the third miss, she had to help both change their blood-soaked clothes.
She herself was badly injured, nearly faint from exhaustion!
But the third miss showed no intention of letting her rest, ordering her to clean the room thoroughly.
Cleaning meant disposing of Xiao Man’s severed hand and scrubbing the blood from every corner.
Xiao Man was her twin sister; she felt her pain as if it were her own. With tears streaming, she finished all the tasks, thinking Luo Xia would let her carry Xiao Man back. But instead, Luo Xia demanded that every corner and every piece of furniture be spotless—she didn’t want to see a speck of dust.
---
She wanted to cry but had no tears left!
Even when healthy, the chores would take hours, let alone now, when she could barely move.
"Miss, today is the ancestor’s return. The eldest miss ordered us to invite you to the spiritual power testing hall. We’ve already delayed too long. If you don’t go, the ancestor will blame you, and you won’t be able to explain yourself."
Luo Xia’s eyes narrowed.
Her mind turned quickly as she recalled the ancestor, who had once placed high hopes on her. Unfortunately, he’d gone into seclusion, and she had no idea what attitude he held now.
When dealing with Xiao Man and Xiao Die, she’d already devised a plan. Now...
Luo Xia smiled sweetly at Xiao Die. "Come here."
Xiao Die thought her words had worked, believing the third miss was scared. She sneered inwardly: once she saw the eldest miss, Luo Xia would be doomed!
As Xiao Die approached, Luo Xia struck swiftly.
Xiao Die’s tears fell as pain surged through her.
The tragedy was, she couldn’t make a sound!
Luo Xia’s smile widened. "Thinking of reporting me? Too bad. Your vocal cords are ruined; you’ll never speak again."
Xiao Die twitched her hand.
Then, with a snap, Luo Xia broke all ten of her fingers.
"You can’t write either!"
Xiao Die’s eyes widened in despair. She slumped to the floor, tears falling in silence.
Bi Zhu looked at her mistress in shock. "Miss, you..."
Luo Xia turned to Bi Zhu. "Xiao Man must die. As for Xiao Die, she’ll be kept for now."
She would never forget how Xiao Man and Xiao Die had once forced the third miss’s mother to her death with poison. Since she now occupied this body, she’d settle the score!
As for Luo Yi...
In her previous life as an assassin, Luo Xia possessed a keen sense of perception.
She sensed Luo Yi approaching.
She quickly dragged Bi Zhu off the bed. "Lie on the floor and play dead."
Bi Zhu, still bewildered by the third miss’s sudden transformation, barely had time to react before the door was kicked open—
Heavens! The eldest miss!
Bi Zhu fainted instantly.
