Damn it, he’s trying that trick again!

Luo Xia felt a storm of silent curses rising within her. However, she signaled Zhaocai to pinch her hand hard, keeping her wits sharp.

"Miss Luo is indeed clever," Wangyou sighed, clearly disappointed that his charms had failed to work on her. "If I were the one carrying a treasure, I would hide it in a safe place, too."

Luo Xia remained silent.

So, this fellow was convinced she had hidden the treasure and that was why he dared not kill her yet? Was he planning to force her to hand it over before silencing her forever? He was truly cold-blooded.

"Is there anywhere in this Magical Beast Forest that is actually safe?" Luo Xia asked with a sweet smile.

"As for that, I truly wouldn't know."

Just then, Luo Xia sensed a wave of danger approaching. It was the aura of a magical beast. She remained calm, knowing Wangyou must be on alert as well.

"Master, this is a perfect chance to escape! It’s a Level Five magical beast. With its help, you can make a run for it!" Zhaocai communicated via telepathy.

"I know," she replied.

Luo Xia felt a spark of joy, though her expression remained impassive. She had been looking for a chance to escape, and since fleeing openly or covertly had been impossible until now, this finally provided a legitimate opportunity!

"Wangyou, are you heading ahead? If not, I’ll be on my way," Luo Xia said, standing up and moving toward the right.

"Miss Luo, a powerful beast is approaching. You cannot go out there," Wangyou said, blocking her path.

Luo Xia feigned terror. "Is there really a beast? You aren't lying to me, are you?" As she spoke, she retreated toward the left.

The beast was coming from the left. She didn't believe Wangyou could fend off a powerful creature while keeping a close watch on her. Of course, if he chose to abandon her and run, she would simply have to accept her bad luck. But surely, she couldn't be that unlucky, could she?

As she turned, she saw a dozen wolves standing just five meters away, staring at her with hungry, glistening eyes. These wolves had reached Level Five, equivalent to a human’s Level Seven. Wherever they roamed, lesser beasts became their prey. Seeing Luo Xia and Wangyou, they let out excited howls. Finally, fresh, delicious human meat!

"Ah! So many wolves! Wangyou, go deal with them!" Luo Xia shrieked, feigning total panic as she shoved Wangyou toward them. Wangyou, not expecting such a large pack to appear, was momentarily stunned.

Zhaocai swiftly zipped out of Luo Xia’s sleeve, opened a portal for her to slip inside, and then bolted.

"Master, those wolves will realize you've vanished soon, and I can't outrun them. For safety’s sake, would you mind making some barbecue in my space?"

Luo Xia realized then that Zhaocai had hidden several wild chickens and ducks in its space. Not only that, but it had even prepared the supplies to start a fire. This gluttonous little creature!

Very well. If her cooking could entice Zhaocai, it would surely entice the wolves as well.

"Master, don't hesitate! I can barely keep this up; three wolves are chasing me! If it weren't for the fact that you have no stamina left, I would much rather be hiding in your sleeve right now."

Luo Xia quickly lit the fire and began to roast the meat. She couldn't defeat the wolves in combat, but she could certainly feed them. Of course, she would be adding a generous dose of poison to the seasoning. Thankfully, she had brought plenty of toxins with her.

Before long, the chickens and ducks were roasted. Since they were for wolves, they didn't need to be perfectly cooked. A rich, savory aroma began to drift through the air.

"Master, please, reward me with a chicken first? I'm running out of strength," Zhaocai pleaded pitifully.
