Chapter 133: Demon-Luring Grass
"Good? What do you mean good? You still have the nerve to ask!" Pang Qingyu said indignantly. "If it weren't for the fact that you needed that spiritual fruit, would Brother Wuying have risked fighting those powerful level-nine magical beasts? And there were two of them—two!"
After saying this, Pang Qingyu began to sob. "Wuwu, Brother Wuying knew there was no chance of winning, but for your sake, he didn't even care about his own life! And my brother, he went too."
Pang Qingyu had always seemed bold and strong-willed to Luo Xia, so she was shocked to see her crying. It seemed the situation was truly dire.
Luo Xia frowned. "Then let's go find them now."
Pang Qingyu, expecting Luo Xia to be heartbroken and remorseful, was stunned by her calm demeanor. "Are you... are you determined to go and throw your life away?"
Luo Xia smiled slightly. "Why call it throwing my life away? Can't I go to help?"
Her? She was going to help? *Ugh—give me a break!*
"Stop making a mess of things," Pang Qingyu said, wiping away her tears. "From now on, you stay right by my side. As for my brother, I will find my own way to save him if anything happens."
Luo Xia knew Pang Qingyu didn't trust her, and she couldn't blame her. After all, she possessed no spiritual energy and was nothing but a burden to others. She had been incredibly lucky to survive until now, and she didn't know if that luck would hold out.
Suddenly, Luo Xia caught a strange scent. It was the smell of herbs. For some reason, she was remarkably sensitive to medicinal plants.
"Zhaocai, do you smell a strange herbal scent?" Luo Xia asked. Knowing that Zhaocai cultivated many herbs in its space, she assumed it shared her sensitivity. However, Zhaocai shook its head.
Luo Xia felt certain the herb was useful, so she followed the scent.
"Luo Xia, are you even listening to me?" Pang Qingyu chased after her, fuming.
Luo Xia looked back and smiled, putting a finger to her lips. "Shh, there is a treasure ahead."
Now it was Pang Qingyu's turn to be bewildered. How could there be a treasure ahead? She couldn't sense anything at all! Remembering that she had lost a bet to Luo Xia back in the limestone cave, she followed her, wanting to see just what kind of luck Luo Xia supposedly possessed.
The weeds ahead were taller than their shoulders. Without a word, Luo Xia picked up a dead branch and began hacking out a path. Watching her wield the twig like a sword, Pang Qingyu couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration.
Luo Xia stopped. Ahead of them grew a strange plant with thirteen curled, tube-like leaves. The peculiar scent was emanating from it. Surrounding the plant were the skeletal remains of magical beasts.
Luo Xia pointed at the plant. "That's it."
Pang Qingyu rolled her eyes. "Are you sure? You made us take such a long detour just for this pathetic weed?"
Luo Xia nodded.
"You idiot, and you called it a treasure!" Pang Qingyu was nearly exploding with rage.
Luo Xia, however, knelt down and carefully began to dig up the plant with her branch. Inside her sleeve, Zhaocai was dancing with excitement, communicating through telepathy: "Master, your luck is incredible! This is a Demon-Luring Herb! Heavens, it's actually a Demon-Luring Herb!"
"What is a Demon-Luring Herb?" Luo Xia asked.
"It attracts magical beasts, especially those below level eight, because it stimulates their reproduction. Magical beasts love it. Each leaf only unfolds once every hundred years; just think, this plant is thirteen hundred years old! Master, what kind of heaven-defying luck do you have?"
