“These roasted chickens and ducks have been poisoned. Do you want to eat them?”

With that gentle remark, Loxia left Prosper feeling utterly dejected.

He had hoped that after running himself ragged, he might at least get a chicken leg to eat, but that pleasant wish was dashed.

Meanwhile, the dozens of wolves, having witnessed Loxia vanish into thin air, found it extremely strange. After waiting so many days for fresh human flesh, they wouldn’t miss any clue.

So, they sent three wolves to pursue.

These three wolves were expert trackers. They quickly locked onto Prosper’s trail.

Desperately, Prosper ran forward with all his might, but the wolves chased relentlessly behind him.

Exhausted beyond measure, Prosper’s strength waned while the wolves gained boldness.

“Master, I can’t go on! Quickly throw out a chicken leg to lure them, let me catch my breath!”

Loxia knew Prosper had done his utmost.

She smiled and said, “Throw out two chicken legs. I’ll come out and deal with them.”

Prosper was no match for them, but at least she was clever enough.

With that, Loxia took out two fragrant chicken legs.

Prosper quickly slipped into her sleeve to rest.

Phew, he was utterly worn out!

Seeing Loxia appear from nowhere, the three wolves were overjoyed. They knew they would surely catch this person now!

They first howled triumphantly, then stared at Loxia ferociously, as if contemplating how to tear her apart and devour her.

Loxia laughed and tossed the two chicken legs toward them, sweetly saying, “Dear wolves, aren’t you just craving meat? I’m very good at roasting it. If you spare me, I’ll roast you delicious meat, guaranteed to satisfy your hunger, alright?”

She deliberately threw the two chicken legs, hoping they would turn on each other.

Sure enough, the three wolves, drooling at the aroma, soon went toward the chicken legs.

Loxia clapped in delight. She had a trick up her sleeve; no matter where she went, she wouldn’t die easily. Although she had no spiritual power to cultivate, her culinary skills could still fend off enemies. Could this be called a culinary stratagem?

“Fight among yourselves, my friends! The chicken legs belong to the victor!”

Loxia thought she could finally search for Shadow in peace.

But she was wrong.

These wolves were used to eating raw food. Though the roasted meat smelled delicious, it was unfamiliar and they did not eat it.

They merely sniffed the chicken legs intensely, then all turned their gaze toward Loxia.

Their eyes burned with hunger even more fiercely than before!

Sensing danger, Loxia bolted!

“Oh my, why treat me like this?”

Loxia ran swiftly, but to the wolves, she moved as slowly as a snail.

They leapt forward—

“Prosper, didn’t you say they’d eat roasted meat? Why won’t they eat it?” Loxia fretted anxiously.

“I don’t know why they won’t eat, Master. Things are not looking good,” Prosper replied.

“Whoosh—”

Suddenly, a wolf pounced from behind, causing Loxia to clutch her head and roll on the ground in panic!

She was nearly knocked down by the wolf!

Oh heavens, how terrifying!

The wolf’s eyes glowed green as it howled fiercely—

“Awooo—”

Loxia quickly picked up a stone and hurled it at the wolf—

Taking advantage of the moment it dodged the stone, she fled!

But after only a few steps, the second and third wolves lunged at her from both sides, pinning her in a pincer attack—

Loxia thought, this is it!

No matter how many arms and legs she had, she couldn’t escape this fate!

Sob, was she truly about to be torn apart and devoured as a delicacy by these wolves?

Please, don’t let her die such a tragic death!
