Chapter 004: The Novice Talisman

Ying Shu heard that she could draw a prize and eagerly pulled out her phone to check her information.
[Name: Ying Shu]
[Age: 22]
[Merit: 200]
[Points: 200] — [Prize Draw]
Note: First-time users are guaranteed to win.
[Level: 0]
[Skills: 0]
A prize-draw button had appeared beside her points.
Ying Shu tapped it. At once, a screen filled with rapidly flashing prizes popped up.
The display moved so quickly that she could not make out what was in the prize pool.
“Please let me win ten million. If that’s too much, five million will do.”
The display stopped.
[Ding! Congratulations. Your level has increased by one.]
The level in her personal information changed from zero to one, while one hundred points were deducted.
“Damn it! Raising my level by one isn’t going to make me rich or powerful. What use are you to me?”
Ying Shu was so furious that she wanted to smash her phone.
Fortunately, she still had a second draw.
She tapped the prize-draw button again.
The frantically flashing prize screen appeared once more. When it finally stopped, four words were displayed:
“Thank you for participating.”
“%#@…”
She cursed the ancestors of the All-World Errand Service for eighteen generations, then decisively put her phone back in her bag.
[Ding—]
[Congratulations on receiving a five-star rating. You have been awarded five hundred points and five hundred merit. Employee, would you like to draw a prize?]
The previous reward had come from the system. This time, the five-star rating was a reward Cheng Shan had given through the system after learning that Ying Shu had delivered the elixir to his wife.
At the sound of this, she quickly pulled out her phone and tapped the draw button.
[Thank you for participating.]
[Thank you for participating.]
[Thank you for participating.]
Ying Shu tapped three times, and each time she received the same answer.
“I refuse to believe my luck will stay this bad forever.”
She used her final two chances.
[Ding! Congratulations. You have obtained two Weakling Talismans.]
Ying Shu: ==!
She felt as though she had been insulted.
Come to think of it, what were Weakling Talismans supposed to do?
Ying Shu tapped the screen, and the talismans were placed in the Treasure Chest in the background.
She opened the chest. It contained twenty slots, and the Weakling Talismans occupied the first one.
When she tapped them again, a description window appeared:
Single-target attack. It can turn the target into a weakling. Even the strongest expert will be powerless to fight back or resist before you.
Method of use: Throw directly at the enemy.

At the bottom of the description window were two buttons: “Use” and “Remove.”
Ying Shu rubbed her forehead. “Another useless item.”
At least it was useless for now.
Everyone in the Ying family had practiced martial arts from childhood. In addition, she was a student in the martial arts program at a sports college, so dealing with two or three bad guys would not be a problem.
Unless they had weapons.
Ying Shu continued drawing prizes.
[Ding! Congratulations. You have obtained the Eye of Truth.]
A new skill, the Eye of Truth, immediately appeared in the skills section of her personal information.
“The Eye of Truth is a skill? What is it supposed to do?”
Could it be a skill for playing games on the platform? But did the platform even have games?
Ying Shu still had to go to the hospital to pay the bills, so she did not continue investigating.
By the time she had finished everything and returned home, it was already seven in the evening.
She went upstairs first to see her grandfather, Ying Li. “Grandpa.”
Ying Li was in fairly good spirits. Although the left side of his body was paralyzed, he could still use his right hand to look at his phone and browse videos.
When he saw Ying Shu enter, he smiled kindly. “Little Shu, you’re back. Your mother took a job and went out. She won’t be back for two days. The dishes she cooked are on the table. Heat them up if you’re hungry. You don’t need to look after me. Go take care of Xing and Yu.”
Ying Shu exchanged a few concerned words with him before going upstairs.
She went to see Ying Xing first.
The small boy had fallen asleep leaning against his soft blankets. Only after taking painkillers could he sleep peacefully for a little while.
Ying Shu tucked him in, then went to the room across the hall to see Ying Yu.
Ying Yu’s entire body hurt, and she was tossing restlessly on the bed. When she saw Ying Shu enter, she quickly endured the pain and forced a smile.
“Sis, you’re back.”
Seeing how pale her face was, Ying Shu asked anxiously, “Are your joints hurting again?”
Ying Yu did not want her sister to worry and hurriedly denied it. “No.”
As the words left her mouth, Ying Shu saw the words “Lying” appear over her lips in red. They vanished almost immediately, as though she had merely imagined them.
She rubbed her brow and looked at Ying Yu again. Her sister’s face was perfectly clean—not a single letter or symbol remained.
Thinking Ying Shu was tired, Ying Yu took her hand and pleaded, “Sis, it really doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry about me. You just got back, didn’t you? Go take a shower and get some rest.”
Their mother and sister had been worn down physically and emotionally by their illnesses, especially their mother, who had lost a great deal of weight.
As their daughter, Ying Yu naturally felt both heartache and guilt.
Once again, Ying Shu saw the words “Lying” appear over her sister’s mouth. Her pupils contracted slightly.
If she had merely been seeing things before, what was this? A hallucination?
But why could she see the words “Lying”?
Was it because she was too exhausted?
“Sis, what’s wrong?”
Seeing her staring blankly, Ying Yu shook her arm.
When no words appeared over her sister’s mouth this time, Ying Shu temporarily set the matter aside. She picked up the medicated oil from the table and said, “I’m your sister. I know you’re tossing and turning because the pain is keeping you awake. So you don’t need to lie to me—and you can’t fool me anyway. Don’t think you’re troubling me, or I’ll be very sad.”
She had Ying Yu lie on her stomach, then lifted the back of her shirt, applied the medicated oil, and gently massaged her shoulders and back.
Ying Yu’s leukemia had reached its final stage. It had spread not only to her organs but also to her bones. Although she took painkillers, their effects did not last long, and she could not take too many. Besides, painkillers could not eliminate the pain completely. Bone pain in particular could make it nearly impossible to sleep, and only massages with other medication could ease it.
“Sis, I just don’t want you to get too tired.”
“Look at me. Do I look tired when I’m so full of energy?”
Ying Shu thought Ying Yu was far too sensible—so sensible that it broke her heart.

After all, her little sister was only ten years old, yet she endured all her pain so that no one else would have to worry.
Ying Yu turned her head and saw that her sister’s face showed no trace of fatigue. Instead, Ying Shu looked lively and energetic. Only then did she relax.
“Since you aren’t tired, then massage me a little longer.”
“Yes, my lady.”
Ying Yu let out a laugh.
Perhaps because her mood had improved, she felt that her back no longer hurt quite so badly.
“Sis, did you specially learn how to massage for our sake? This feels so good.”
Ying Yu was beginning to feel sleepy.
“I must have gotten better with practice.”
After quite some time, Ying Shu noticed that Ying Yu had stopped speaking. She secretly glanced over and discovered that her sister had fallen asleep.
“She fell asleep that quickly?”
In the past, Ying Yu could not fall asleep without at least two hours of struggling.
To help her sleep more soundly, Ying Shu continued massaging her bones.
With no one speaking to distract her, she focused her attention on Ying Yu’s back. Then she noticed that her hands, where they touched her sister’s body, were emitting a faint white glow.
She also sensed something flowing out from within her and passing into Ying Yu’s body.
When she lifted her hands from her sister’s back, the white light disappeared as well.
Ying Shu stared at the scene in astonishment.
“What is going on?”
At that moment, her phone rang.
[Ding—]
[Cheng Shan of the Cultivation World has requested to add you as a friend.]
Ying Shu tucked her sister in, then returned to her room and accepted the request. She sent Cheng Shan the video she had secretly recorded at his home that day.
When Cheng Shan saw his wife and child, whom he had not seen for a thousand years, tears poured from his eyes. Seeing that his wife could walk again made him even happier for her.
“Thank you, Ying Shu.”
“I accepted your commission fee, so of course I had to complete the job. By the way…”
Ying Shu told Cheng Shan what had just happened.
Cheng Shan thought for a moment before saying, “You should have spiritual power within your body. You must have transferred it into your sister, which is why she felt more comfortable. As for the words ‘Lying’ appearing over your sister’s mouth, that may be some ability you possess. Think back carefully. Did the words appear only when your sister was lying?”
Ying Shu recalled what had happened earlier and realized that Cheng Shan was right.
But how had she acquired such an ability?
Then she suddenly remembered the Eye of Truth she had drawn earlier. Could it be that the skill had taken effect?
The more Ying Shu thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
But where had the spiritual power come from?
Could it be because her level had increased by one?
Her interest in the All-World Errand Service grew stronger by the day. She only wondered what kind of mission would come next.
Ying Shu hoped she could receive another commission from Cheng Shan, while Cheng Shan also hoped she would return to the Cultivation World and obtain more elixirs to help restore his wife’s health.
However, she waited all night without receiving another order from Cheng Shan.
Instead, a new commission arrived.
