With that, Ye Chen swung the machete in his hand. He pushed off with both legs, and his entire body shot forward like a streak of lightning. The blade flashed, blood flowed, and great sprays of crimson flew through the air. Ye Chen seemed to be dancing amid the blood.

Three police cars raced forward at full speed. Their sirens not only failed to make Big Black and the others retreat; they actually caused those men lying half-dead on the ground to stagger back to their feet.

“Brother Black, the police are here!” one of the men hurriedly gathered around Big Black.

“Then… are we fighting the police or those other guys?” one of his men asked anxiously.

“We’re not fighting anyone for now. We’ll let the police handle it.” Big Black grinned. “If we get taken in, someone will bail us out. If they go in, heh heh, we’ll spend a little money and have the police ‘legally’ finish them off.”

“Damn, that’s the way to do it. Brother Black, you’re brilliant!” His man immediately nodded.

Ye Chen sent the last thug tumbling to the ground with an elegant whirlwind kick. As he landed, a large number of police officers surrounded the scene.

Zhang Yantong held a pistol in both hands, her expression tense as if confronting a deadly enemy. She shouted sternly, “Police! Drop all your weapons, put your hands on your heads, and get down!”

Her command did not make the gangsters lower their weapons. Instead, they roared at the police, forcing the officers to retreat in fear. Even while holding guns, they were still shaking.

Zhang Yantong narrowed her eyes. There were always a few useless fools in every police force.

“What are you doing? What do you think you’re doing?” Zhang Yantong fired a warning shot.

“All right, put them down. Show Captain Zhang some respect!” Big Black said from the side, a cigarette dangling from his mouth as he flicked away the ash. “Police and gangsters are practically one family. Why kill each other so ruthlessly?”

Big Black truly was a man of the underworld. With a single sentence, he had exposed the hidden truth. Police and gangsters were one family—why should they slaughter one another?

Everyone threw the machetes in their hands onto the ground. Ye Chen and the others, however, still held steel pipes, iron rods, and similar weapons.

Zhang Yantong gave a cold snort. “Ye Chen, have your men put those things down, or don’t blame me for what happens next!”

“Make them release Feng Zhixiao. Otherwise, I absolutely will not let this go!” Ye Chen gritted his teeth. Until Feng Zhixiao and the others were rescued, he would never back down.

Zhang Yantong grew anxious. Why did this man always cause trouble for her? Had he forgotten how much trouble she had covered for him the last time he beat Liu Junyuan? And now he was stirring up trouble everywhere again.

“The police have the final say in all matters. Hurry up and have your men put down their weapons!” Zhang Yantong shouted coldly.

“Hmph. Forget it!” Ye Chen roared. “Brothers, charge in at once and find Feng Zhixiao!”

Roars erupted from the crowd. One by one, they charged inside with clenched teeth.

Zhang Yantong’s eyes widened. These bastards were actually being this reckless in front of the police. The officers behind her were just about to rush forward and subdue Ye Chen and the others when Zhang Yantong stopped them.

“Let them go in. Arrest these people first.”

“Yes!”

The officers behind her immediately nodded. Soon, Big Black and the others were all handcuffed.

As for the injured men—the ones covered in blood from being hacked—Zhang Yantong quickly called for emergency assistance. Ambulances arrived with sirens wailing, and several of them swiftly carried the wounded away from the scene.

Big Black stood there as if nothing had happened, watching Zhang Yantong and the others surround Ye Chen. He grinned.

“This is going to be a good show.”

Ye Chen and the others rushed into the abandoned factory. Lights were burning inside, though the building remained dim. In the murky illumination, Feng Zhixiao and the others were hanging suspended in the air, their mouths sealed with transparent tape so they could not cry out.

They could not speak at all. Their eyes were closed, blood trickled down from their heads, soaked through their clothes, and then dripped steadily from their trouser legs. Hanging there one after another, they looked like corpses suspended from the ceiling.

“Damn it! These animals!” Ye Chen cursed furiously.

“Brother Zhixiao! Brother Zhixiao!” Little Two immediately threw his arms around Feng Zhixiao’s legs and began to weep.

“Big Black, get them down!” Ye Chen shouted.

The brothers immediately lowered Feng Zhixiao and the others from the air.

Feng Zhixiao weakly opened his eyes. He had been beaten so badly that he barely looked human anymore. There was hardly a single uninjured spot on his entire body.

Ye Chen gritted his teeth. “Zhixiao, are you all right?”

“Brother Chen, you came…” Feng Zhixiao forced a smile. “The brothers have been waiting so painfully for you. Don’t worry—we didn’t tell them anything…”

After saying that, Feng Zhixiao immediately passed out.

“Damn it! Save him!”

Ye Chen carried Feng Zhixiao and rushed outside. Big Black watched his retreating figure, clenched his teeth, and shouted to the men at the scene, “Anyone who can walk, follow us! Carry those who can’t!”

Big Black then hoisted two men whose legs had been broken onto his shoulders and charged outside.

This was the best time to save them.

Ye Chen burst out of the factory and saw ambulances treating the wounded outside. Without a word, he rushed over, pulled one of the people from an ambulance, and threw him aside. Then he placed Feng Zhixiao inside.

Grabbing the doctor by the collar, he snarled, “Save him, or I’ll take your life!”

“Ye Chen, don’t be reckless!” Zhang Yantong cried, her eyes widening.

She had never expected Feng Zhixiao to be beaten into such a state. When Big Black and the others carried the remaining men out, everyone was stunned. None of them looked human anymore. Their bodies were drenched in blood, and some even had broken arms and legs.

“Everyone, listen to me!” Ye Chen roared.

“Brother Chen!”

The men rose one after another, their eyes filled with fury. Those bastards had done this to Brother Zhixiao and the others, and rage burned in every heart.

Ye Chen sneered. “Anyone who kills my brothers will pay with his life. If we retreat today, if I give in today, then tomorrow we will have no standing whatsoever in Jianghuai City. Tell me—what should we do?”

“Kill! Kill! Kill!”

The crowd raised their fists and shouted.

Big Black’s emotions had been completely stirred by Ye Chen. He gritted his teeth.

“Slaughter that pack of animals!”

“Excellent!” Ye Chen said with a cold laugh. “We will avenge our brothers, even if it means going to prison. I, Ye Chen, have never been afraid of death.”

With that, Ye Chen turned and looked toward Big Black, who was being held by the police. He walked toward him step by step.

Big Black immediately panicked. Could Ye Chen really dare to attack someone in front of the police? Or had he gone completely mad?

He retreated several steps.

Zhang Yantong quickly blocked Ye Chen’s path. “Ye Chen, the police will handle this matter. Come back with us and assist in the investigation!”

“Investigate your sister! Do you think I don’t know what’s going on?” Ye Chen glared at Zhang Yantong. “Do you know why this happened today? It’s because there’s a mole inside your police station. You know exactly who it is. The last time we surrounded Zhang Dadan, only you and I knew about it. Today, Big Black even said the information came from inside the police force. Hmph…”

A sharp hiss escaped Zhang Yantong as she drew a sudden breath. Her eyes widened, and she shook her head in disbelief.

“No, no, that’s impossible. I wasn’t the one who leaked the information!”

“Whether you did or not, you know the truth yourself. But today, don’t try to stop me from avenging my brothers!”

Ye Chen shoved Zhang Yantong aside and continued toward Big Black. Two police officers immediately stepped in front of him.

Ye Chen gave a cold laugh.

“You brought this upon yourselves.”
