Chapter 19: She’s Not Even Worth You Polishing Her Shoes For

Wen Ying instinctively tightened her grip on the chopsticks, feeling nervous. "No, I'm fine. Maybe I've just been too busy and haven't eaten on time."
Since falling ill, she had lost a lot of weight, her appetite was poor, and she couldn’t absorb nutrients well. Neither Lu Jinchuan nor Zhou Yu had noticed.
Only her loving grandmother sensed something was wrong immediately.
But she couldn’t say anything.
Her grandmother was elderly and had been emotionally fragile since her mother passed away. Her uncle Wen Yiliang was also in a sanatorium due to liver cancer. If she broke down, how could they bear it?
“Yingying, are you unhappy?” Qu Suilan had been worried because Wen Ying seemed off. “Did you have a fight with Lu Jinchuan?”
Otherwise, why would Lu Jinchuan hardly ever accompany Wen Ying here?
Wen Ying put down her chopsticks and hugged the old woman. “No, we’re fine. Don’t worry. Another day, I’ll have him come and speak to you personally.”
Once they divorced,
they would both be better off.
Qu Suilan could only keep piling food on Wen Ying’s plate, wishing she could gain ten pounds.
Even though Wen Ying felt nauseous and had little appetite, she smiled and accepted every dish.
When leaving, Wen Ying took the scarf her grandmother had knitted with her.
Monday.
Wen Ying didn’t go to Lansheng but headed straight to Feixi.
Lu Jinchuan had approved her resignation, and she had completed her work handover. Now she could start a new life.
She left the men's scarf in the car and wore the women's scarf upstairs.

Shen Jiaxiao and He Xicheng had been waiting for her.
They were the only two managers at Feixi. Now that Wen Ying had joined as a technical partner and become the third largest shareholder, many employees viewed her arrival with skepticism.
Everyone at Feixi was a graduate of top domestic and foreign universities.
Yet Wen Ying’s resume was not particularly impressive; her only work experience was in public relations.
Feixi wasn’t about appearances!
“How come no one mentioned you’re the lowest-ranking master’s degree here?” Wen Ying asked after getting a rough idea of Feixi’s environment, quite surprised.
Graduate degrees didn’t seem to carry much weight here.
Shen Jiaxiao waved dismissively. “So what? They might not be worth a tenth of you combined. You’re Feixi’s ace!”
Just Wen Ying’s U.N2 project from five years ago had swept the board.
“Before you start, how about I take you for an MRI first?” He Xicheng scoffed. “I need to make sure you’ve ditched your love-struck brain. If you bail halfway through the project, who will I cry to?”
Wen Ying: “...”
He Xicheng was still the same old mix of sharp and spicy.
“President He, someone wants to see you. They said they want to discuss the U.N2 project,” He Xicheng’s assistant knocked and said.
“Who?”
“Su Nian, Miss Su. She’s here on behalf of Lu Jinchuan from Lansheng.”
Upon hearing the name, everyone present except Wen Ying darkened in expression.
Especially Shen Jiaxiao, who crossed her arms and sneered coldly, “Who does she think she is, representing Lu Jinchuan? Tell her to get lost!”

The assistant looked at He Xicheng awkwardly.
General Manager Shen had a fiery temper, but President He was more reasonable.
He Xicheng glanced coldly. “Tell her there’s an important guest here. She came in a rush, and I don’t have time to entertain her.”
The assistant forced a smile.
Well, that was even harsher.
Basically saying she showed up uninvited.
Wen Ying didn’t mind at all. From the moment she learned that Su Nian was involved in the drone industry, she knew this was inevitable.
She had prepared herself emotionally and wouldn’t let personal feelings interfere with work.
“I’m fine. Don’t be so nervous,” she said.
Shen Jiaxiao curled her lip. “I really want to see the look on that flashy tramp’s face when she realizes you’re the real developer of U.N2. She’s not even worthy to tie your shoes! Lu Jinchuan must be blind!”
Back then, Wen Ying had secretly cooperated with the state, and the integrated reconnaissance and strike drone U.N2 had been deployed in combat. The project was absorbed into the military, and a five-year confidentiality agreement forbade her from revealing her identity during that period.
Otherwise, that flashy tramp wouldn’t have had a chance to strut around.
Suddenly, the office door was pushed open.
A man’s impatient voice rang out, “I want to see what kind of ‘important guest’ is making such a fuss!”
