Chapter 93: Brother Liu: I Don’t Want a Divorce

“I am not wrong! Liu Jianjun, don’t you dare admit fault to me!”

Liu’s eldest sister-in-law had been unconscious since she fell into the water, unaware of what had happened afterward. Now hearing Liu Yan’er say that Han Guoqiang had actually hit the simpleton, her anger flared instantly.

“Enough, Yan’er, don’t waste your breath on someone so shameless,” Lin Xiaodou interjected. “Liu’s eldest sister-in-law, no matter how you deny it, you can’t hide the reality of your crime.”

Her face changed. “How am I a criminal? Don’t say such things!”

Lin Xiaodou replied, “You and Chu Ling incited others to try and harm Yan’er and me, which is intentional injury. I’ve already reported it to the police, and Chu Ling has confessed—she’s been taken to the station for questioning. If you weren’t pregnant, do you think you’d still be lying here unscathed?”

At these words, everyone’s eyes widened in shock.

Hadn’t Chu Ling already gone home? Goodness, this Lin girl could really lie without blinking.

Liu’s eldest brother moved his lips, about to explain, but Liu’s mother pinched his arm hard and whispered, “If you still want to call me mother, keep your mouth shut!”

His face turned pale and he dropped his head in defeat.

“What? Chu Ling was taken in?” Liu’s eldest sister-in-law finally panicked, quickly protesting,

“She was the one who pushed me— I didn’t do anything, it has nothing to do with me!”

Just moments ago, she’d been so defiant in her denial; now she was frantic. Her dramatic change left everyone speechless.

But she didn’t realize it, still shouting, “Lin Xiaodou, you can’t call the police on me, I’m pregnant, my child is innocent!”

Lin Xiaodou sneered, “When you were harming others, did you ever think of doing good for your unborn child?”

Liu’s eldest sister-in-law retorted, “I don’t care. You’re fine, aren’t you? You pushed me into the river, so now we’re even!”

Watching her shameless attitude, Liu’s father and the others felt deeply uncomfortable. Though they’d already learned the truth from Liu Yan’er, hearing the sister-in-law admit it herself made it hard to accept—especially Liu’s eldest brother. He’d nearly fallen out with his family for his wife; now, with this scandal, how could he explain himself? He was utterly ashamed.

“Wife, couldn’t we just live peacefully? Why must you always hurt our family for the sake of yours?” His face was ashen, voice hoarse.

The sight of his defeated expression only made his wife angrier. “That’s your family, not mine! My parents raised me—I have every right to help my family!”

“Helping your family means bleeding ours dry, selling our daughters?” Liu’s mother could no longer hold back. She stomped over and slapped her daughter-in-law twice, hard.

“You troublemaker, our family’s luck ran dry the day we married you—why not just leave?”

“Ahhh, you old hag, how dare you hit me! I’ll fight you!” Furious, Liu’s eldest sister-in-law grabbed the stool beside her bed and swung it at Liu’s mother’s head.

“Wife!”

“Mom!”

Everyone’s heart clenched in shock—no one had time to react. The stool was about to smash into Liu’s mother, leaving her bloody.

A figure rushed forward at that instant.

“My son!”

Seeing her son shielding her, Liu’s mother panicked. She quickly lifted his shirt: his back was swollen and bruised, horrifying to see.

Tears sprang to her eyes, and she hurriedly called to the team leader, “Old man, go get the doctor, now!”

The doctor arrived promptly, checked the injury, and said it wasn’t serious—just apply some herbal oil, and it would heal in a few days.

Relieved, Liu’s mother said, “Thank goodness, thank goodness.”

Once the doctor left, Liu’s eldest sister-in-law scoffed from the bed, “Such a fuss over nothing.”

“Eldest daughter-in-law, shut your mouth!” Liu’s father was truly angry now. For the sake of his grandson, he’d tolerated his daughter-in-law, but she had no respect for the family, insulted her husband, and even tried to hurt her mother-in-law. With this kind of trouble, the Liu family wouldn’t last, and everyone would suffer. For his family’s sake, he’d rather give up his grandson than keep such a disruptive daughter-in-law.

“Tomorrow morning, I’ll give you proof, and you two can go to town and file for divorce!”

Liu’s eldest brother was stunned, “Dad…”

“Don’t call me that. Your father is right; our family can’t keep someone like her. Divorce at once!” Liu’s mother declared firmly.

The attitude of her parents-in-law shocked Liu’s eldest sister-in-law. She shouted, “Fine, divorce me then! Since we’re in the hospital, I’ll get rid of the baby right now!”

“Always the same trick. Our family isn’t afraid of you!” Liu Yan’er rolled her eyes, grabbed her mother’s arm, and led her out. “Mom, let’s go home and leave it be!”

Liu’s father cast a cold glance at his daughter-in-law. “Whether you keep the child or not, our family wants nothing to do with it!”

With that, he prepared to leave the ward.

“Dad! Mom! Don’t go!” Liu’s eldest brother cried out in pain, dropping to his knees with a thud. “I beg you, as your son—I don’t want a divorce, I really don’t want to give up my child!”
