Chapter 133: A Figure Burst Through the Door
After being thoroughly dealt with, Zhu Qingqing settled down. Her hair was a tangled mess, blood trickled down her forehead, and she curled up in a corner, sobbing quietly.
Sister Chen, always soft-hearted, wanted to go comfort her but was pulled away by Lin Xiaodou.
“Let’s go, Sister Chen. People like her are ungrateful scoundrels. No matter how good you are to her, she’ll only resent you.”
Once Lin Xiaodou and Sister Chen left, the others dispersed as well.
Zhu Qingqing had only been here for less than half a month but had already caused trouble several times.
It was best to keep a distance from such a troublemaker.
With no one paying attention to her, Zhu Qingqing wiped her tears and made her way to the veterinary clinic.
The infirmary had iodine and bandages, enough to clean her wounds and stop the bleeding.
By the time she finished, night had fallen.
As Zhu Qingqing stepped out of the infirmary, she happened to bump into Dr. Zhang, who had just finished her shift.
Noticing the bandage wrapped around Zhu Qingqing’s head, Dr. Zhang raised an eyebrow. “What happened? Did you fall?”
Though Zhu Qingqing was part of her team, Dr. Zhang hadn’t really managed her these past days. Seeing her in such a sorry state piqued her curiosity.
Zhu Qingqing sniffled, her nose red. “Dr. Zhang, I wasn’t hurt by falling—I was beaten by Lin Xiaodou.”
Dr. Zhang rolled her eyes in disbelief. “How can you be so useless to get beaten up by her like this?”
She’d heard rumors about Lin Xiaodou roughing up Aunt Wu and had even mocked Dr. He over it.
But the veterinary clinic had been so busy lately that she hadn’t had time for gossip.
She didn’t realize Lin Xiaodou’s true strength, thinking she was just a tough little girl with a bit more muscle.
Hearing this, Zhu Qingqing felt wronged.
“You don’t understand. Lin Xiaodou is really fierce. I’m no match for her.”
“You’re just weak, and now you’re being stubborn about it!”
Dr. Zhang scolded her, frustrated that her team member was so timid.
“If she dares to hit you again, call me. I want to see what she’s really capable of!”
Zhu Qingqing shivered at the thought—there wouldn’t be a next time.
From now on, she would avoid Lin Xiaodou altogether and never provoke her again.
That woman was crazy; whoever crossed her was doomed.
After a brief chat with Dr. Zhang, Zhu Qingqing hurried away.
Watching her leave, Dr. Zhang sneered, “What a useless wretch—can’t even win a fight.”
How mocking Dr. Zhang was now would soon be matched by how pitiful she would look after being beaten, crying and begging.
……
The next morning, as everyone else went to work one after another, Zhu Qingqing took a leave and stayed home.
After a while, her family rushed over in a panic.
Their usually well-behaved little girl had somehow gotten involved with that convict, and they were frantic.
Seeing Zhu Qingqing’s bandaged head and bruised face, the whole family exploded in anger.
Her father’s eyes were as wide as copper bells, blazing with fury.
“Qingqing, who did this to you? Tell your father—I’ll beat that bastard to death!”
Her mother raised her brows, her face stern and commanding without uttering a word.
“Whoever dares to bully my precious daughter clearly doesn’t want to live!”
Her elder sister, Zhu Damei, was anxious too. “Don’t cry, little sister. Tell us who hit you!”
The whole family worked at the slaughterhouse, handling pigs and cattle, and were all burly and strong.
Only Zhu Qingqing was slender, standing out among them.
When she first came here, she had looked down on their rough ways.
Now, as if finding her anchor, she threw herself into her mother’s arms and sobbed.
“Mom, it was that despicable woman Lin Xiaodou. She often hits me without reason, and it hurts so much!”
Hearing her daughter’s heartbreaking cries, her mother was deeply pained.
“Don’t cry, my girl. Mom will get revenge for you. We’ll make that Lin woman pay dearly!”
Her father clenched his fists and stood up, ready to rush out.
“Where is that Lin Xiaodou? I’m going to find her right now!”
“Dad!” Zhu Damei stopped him just in time, urging calm.
“Let’s ask a few more questions first. Don’t act impulsively.”
Previously, when her sister told her about being choked and beaten by Lin Xiaodou, she had grabbed a slaughter knife and went looking for her.
But upon meeting Lin Xiaodou herself, she realized that things were not as her sister described.
That was the first time she began to doubt her sister’s words.
In fact, ever since her sister was dismissed from the performing arts troupe and came home, she had noticed something was off.
Her sister, once gentle and mild, suddenly became lively and competitive.
Their parents, both coarse laborers, worked long hours and didn’t pay much attention.
She had asked her sister once, who explained that she had been bullied a lot at the troupe, and the stress caused her change.
Feeling sorry for her, she had taken care of her cautiously every day, even when her sister started working at the pig farm’s veterinary station.
But within half a month, her sister had repeatedly stirred up trouble.
And the root of all this trouble was that convict named Xu Mo!
Their parents had already warned her once not to associate with Xu Mo.
Yet despite agreeing, she soon got involved with him, and the whole pig farm found out.
Before coming here, her parents were very angry and wanted to scold her.
But seeing her battered face softened their hearts.
Those angry words about settling scores were said in the heat of the moment.
Now, calm again, hearing her sister mention Lin Xiaodou’s name once more, Zhu Damei felt uneasy.
Why was it always Lin Xiaodou hitting her sister?
She had met Lin Xiaodou before and found her quite approachable.
“Little sister, can you tell us why she hit you?”
“Why else? She just doesn’t like me!”
Zhu Qingqing’s eyes were red as she accused bitterly.
“Lin Xiaodou is a demon. She’s tried to ruin me over and over. Mom, Dad, you have to help me get revenge and drive her out of the veterinary station!”
Lin Xiaodou had left, and Zhu Qingqing was ready to take over her area, hoping to meet Xu Mo every day.
Just then, a figure suddenly burst through the door.
“You’re lying! When did Xiaodou ever want to hurt you? You’re full of lies!”
