Chapter 134: Xiao Jingyao Suspects Lin Xiaodou
The person arriving was Sister Chen.
She had just finished breakfast with Lin Xiaodou at the canteen when she received word from Director Hu that Zhu Qingqing’s family had arrived. Worried that Lin Xiaodou might be misunderstood, she had volunteered to accompany her back to the dormitory. She never expected to overhear the lies Zhu Qingqing was spinning.
"It was clearly you who mocked Xiaodou, saying she had no parents to love her, and you were always picking fights with her—that’s why she hit you!" Sister Chen glared at Zhu Qingqing with indignation. Had she known what kind of person the girl was, she never would have agreed to let Dr. Zhang take her on.
Lin Xiaodou walked over from behind and patted Sister Chen on the shoulder. "Sister Chen, don’t get angry over a person like this; it’s not worth it."
Zhu’s father and mother were dazed by Sister Chen’s words. Could it be that their daughter was actually the one at fault? When they finally saw Lin Xiaodou herself, they were stunned. Was this the "demon" Lin Xiaodou their daughter had described? Goodness, her appearance didn’t match that description at all.
Though shocked by her beauty, they still felt the need to stand up for their daughter. Zhu’s father glared at Lin Xiaodou. "Did you hit my daughter? Even if she said the wrong thing, you shouldn't have beaten her so severely." He had never laid a finger on the daughter he had cherished since childhood. Seeing her in such a miserable state, how could he not be furious?
"Exactly! It’s too much for you to beat someone like that!" Zhu’s mother stepped forward, also looking fierce. She could scold her daughter for her mistakes, but she would not allow an outsider to punish her. The couple was physically imposing; standing together, their shadows stretched out like small hills, as if they intended to swallow Lin Xiaodou whole.
Excitement flared in Zhu Qingqing’s eyes as she urged them on, "Mom, Dad, you must teach her a lesson and get revenge for me!"
Zhu Damei opened her mouth to speak but ultimately gave up. Zhu Qingqing was her younger sister; she couldn't help an outsider against her own flesh and blood. She also understood her parents—they were fierce on the outside but kind-hearted deep down. These threats were likely meant to intimidate Lin Xiaodou into apologizing and backing down.
However, Sister Chen and Lin Xiaodou were unaware of this. Sister Chen trembled with fear. "Xiaodou, what should we do? Maybe you should run, and I’ll try to stop them!"
"Sister Chen, don’t worry, I can handle this." Lin Xiaodou tucked her behind her and addressed the couple. "Since you want to take revenge for Zhu Qingqing, then come at me together." If they were going to abandon reason, she would settle this with her fists. Lin Xiaodou wasn’t afraid!
Zhu’s father and mother paused, confused. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Usually, people would be begging for mercy by now. They hadn't expected this girl to be so tough. Her temperament... it actually suited their tastes.
Seeing her parents standing still, Zhu Qingqing grew anxious. "Dad, Mom, do something! Don't you want to help me get revenge?" What a waste of their size; they didn't even know how to fight!
Zhu Damei frowned. She was increasingly suspicious of whether this person was truly her sister. The sister she knew, even when upset, would never speak to their parents like that; it was incredibly rude. "Qingqing, be quiet. Mom and Dad are old; does it look right for two adults to beat a young girl?" She shot her sister an annoyed glance before turning to her parents. "Mom, Dad, there’s no need to make things so ugly. Let’s sit down and talk properly."
This hit the mark with Zhu’s father. If the person at fault had been a grown man, he would have started swinging without a second thought. But since his daughter was clearly in the wrong and the other party was just a young girl, he couldn't bring himself to attack. Zhu’s mother felt the same. She addressed Lin Xiaodou, "How about this? We’ll each take a step back. You apologize to my daughter and promise not to hit her again, and we’ll call it even."
"Mom! What are you saying!" Zhu Qingqing broke down, shouting, "Your daughter has been beaten like this, and you want to brush it off with a light apology? What are you thinking? Are you even my parents?!"
"Zhu Qingqing, shut your mouth! You caused this trouble and now you’re making Mom and Dad clean up your mess. You were wrong in the first place!" Zhu Damei snapped. She truly couldn't understand how her sister had become like this.
"Waaah... Zhu Damei, you’re helping an outsider against me... you’re not my sister!" Zhu Qingqing cried angrily and ran off.
The remaining people stood in the room, staring at one another. Lin Xiaodou raised her hand tentatively. "Are we still fighting? If not, I need to get to work."
Zhu’s mother looked awkward. "Just apologize to my daughter..."
Lin Xiaodou cut her off directly. "An apology is impossible. She was the one who started being cheap; I was right to hit her."
The words were merciless. Zhu’s father’s face darkened. "You girl, you don't know what's good for you. We’ve already made concessions. Do you really want us to hit you?"
"Come on then, go ahead." Lin Xiaodou walked out of the room and into the courtyard. Under the gaze of everyone, she lifted the stone table with one hand and slammed it down in front of Zhu’s father.
The stone table whistled through the air, nearly hitting the bridge of his nose. Zhu’s father dodged just in time. *Bang!* The table crashed into the courtyard wall, leaving a gaping hole.
Everyone present was shocked, even Sister Chen. Though she had seen Lin Xiaodou fight before, she had never been this stunned.
"Still want to fight?" Lin Xiaodou’s gaze was icy and chilling.
"No, no, we’re leaving, sorry to bother you." Zhu Damei quickly intervened, grabbing her parents and rushing out. My goodness, this woman was so strong she could lift a table weighing hundreds of pounds with ease. If she actually fought, she might kill her father. If they didn't leave now, when would they?
Once they left, the courtyard became quiet. Sister Chen asked cautiously, "Xiaodou, are we still going to work?"
Lin Xiaodou turned to her and couldn't help but chuckle. "Sister Chen, why are you whispering? Did I scare you?"
Sister Chen replied, "You don't know how terrifying you looked just now. I was truly frightened."
Lin Xiaodou laughed heartily. "I was just putting on an act. You don't need to be afraid."
Sister Chen’s expression softened, and she laughed along. Outside the courtyard, standing around the corner, was a tall, handsome figure. Watching the girl in the yard laughing so brightly, Xiao Jingyao’s eyes flickered. He hadn't expected that just returning to pick up some items would lead him to such a fascinating scene.
This Lin Xiaodou was truly not simple. She was skilled, strong, and beautiful; she could have found a path for herself anywhere. Why would she be willing to settle for a small pig farm? Could it be... that she had some unspeakable secret?
Xiao Jingyao suddenly remembered the reason he had come to the pig farm. His expression turned serious. If the foreign agent was not a man... but a woman, then his entire investigation had been headed in the wrong direction!
Thinking of this, Xiao Jingyao hurried to Director Hu’s office. "Director Hu, I need the detailed files of all personnel and reformatory inmates at your pig farm."
Director Hu nodded. "Very well, I will have someone prepare them immediately."
Once the documents arrived, Xiao Jingyao opened the file for the veterinary station staff and found Lin Xiaodou’s information. When he saw that she was from Black Stone Village in the Red Star Commune, his eyes stalled...
