The Heiress Campus Belle and the Illegitimate-Son School Bully — Chapter 26
Father Song scrutinized him with a piercing gaze. "Your company is small; what real potential for growth could it possibly have? How can I feel at ease entrusting my daughter to you?"
Xiao Yi took a deep breath, his voice steady and resolute. "Sir, although my company is currently small, I possess both determination and perseverance. I study the market daily, seeking out new opportunities, and I already have several promising projects in the pipeline. I will provide her with a happy life; I will never let her suffer the slightest grievance."
Father Song remained silent for a moment before speaking slowly. "I cannot fully believe these words of yours just yet. However, seeing how desperate you were just to see her, I am willing to trust you to an extent. I can assist you in your career, but until you are married, you are forbidden from any improper conduct toward her. Can you commit to that?"
Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up, and he nodded hurriedly. "Sir, I can! I will work hard and will not let you down."
Father Song gave a slight nod. "Very well. Starting tomorrow, come to my company. I will arrange for someone to help you familiarize yourself with our business resources, but remember your promise."
"I will, sir," Xiao Yi replied respectfully.
The next day, filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, Xiao Yi arrived at Father Song’s company on time. Father Song led him through the building, explaining the company's structure and scope of operations as they walked.
"This is the marketing department," Father Song said. "They hold a vast amount of industry information and client resources. You should communicate and learn from them frequently to understand market trends. However, I will state this clearly from the start: I am helping you only because I see my daughter’s devotion to you. If you show even the slightest slackness or betray her feelings, I can take all of this back at any moment."
"Sir, rest assured, I will never do that," Xiao Yi promised. "I will treat this as the greatest catalyst for my career and give it my all."
Father Song led Xiao Yi to an office. "This will be your temporary workspace. The office next door belongs to my right-hand man, Lao Zhang. He is very experienced; if you don’t understand something, you can consult him. I will have him guide you through a small project first to gauge your ability and attitude."
"Thank you, sir," Xiao Yi said gratefully. "I will cherish this opportunity and put my heart into every aspect of the work."
Some time later, Xiao Yi performed excellently on the project, demonstrating keen business insight and decisive judgment.
Father Song called Xiao Yi into his office. "You have done well during this time. I have discovered that you truly possess talent and potential in business. I have also looked into your company, and I believe your previous operational model was somewhat limited. I suggest you try to expand into online business; that is the future trend."
Xiao Yi listened intently. "Sir, your advice is spot on. I had considered it before, but I was indeed facing difficulties regarding resources and technology."
"Regarding the technology, I can introduce you to some professional teams, and I can provide you with some financial support as well, but you must manage the risks yourself," Father Song said. "Remember, all of this is so that you can become worthy of my daughter."
Xiao Yi’s gaze was firm. "I understand, sir. I will show you my growth and my sense of responsibility, and I will make you feel at ease when you entrust your daughter to me."
As Xiao Yi’s career gradually got on the right track, his opportunities to see Song Qian increased. Yet, every time they met, Xiao Yi strictly adhered to Father Song’s instructions, keeping their interactions limited to walking side by side, chatting about life and their dreams.
