Chapter 17: Heiress School Belle x Illegitimate School Bully
Xiao Yi slightly lowered his head, his nose gently approaching Song Qian’s, his nostrils fluttering softly as he inhaled the unique scent that belonged only to her. His gaze was filled with tenderness and longing, yet his body deliberately kept a slight distance, as if afraid of disturbing the beauty before him. Only the faint sound of his breathing betrayed the deep, restless emotions stirring within him.
Silently, Xiao Yi walked beside Song Qian, escorting her home. Moonlight poured like water, softly resting upon their shoulders, adding a poetic touch to the tranquil night.
His hand trembled subtly at his side, several times he wanted to raise it but was held back by inner turmoil. At last, summoning his courage, his fingers gently brushed the hem of Song Qian’s garment. The delicate texture sparked an electric current that surged through his entire being.
Carefully, he clutched that small piece of fabric as if it were a rare treasure, feeling connected to Song Qian’s presence through this fragile link.
His steps slowed deliberately, each one measured and unhurried, as if by doing so he could stretch the moments they shared. The passing scenery blurred past, yet his gaze kept drifting involuntarily toward Song Qian.
Her profile under the moonlight was exceptionally captivating—long eyelashes casting soft shadows over her lids, her lips slightly pouted, silently conveying adorable innocence. Watching her, Xiao Yi’s heart swelled with warmth and affection, his eyes growing ever more ardent.
Yet whenever Song Qian noticed and looked toward him, Xiao Yi, like a child caught doing wrong, quickly averted his gaze, nervously staring at the streetlamp ahead. The dim yellow glow blurred his vision, mirroring the complex, tangled emotions etched across his face.
He wished secretly that this road never ended, that he could walk beside her forever. Yet he knew parting would come inevitably, so he could only treasure these precious feelings deep within his heart during this limited time.
As they walked, a gentle breeze stirred, lifting strands of Song Qian’s hair. A few wisps brushed against Xiao Yi’s face, causing his heart to leap. Slowly, he raised his hand, intending to tuck her hair behind her ear, but at the very moment of contact, his hand froze midair.
Song Qian seemed to sense it, turning her head with a questioning look. Embarrassed, Xiao Yi smiled awkwardly, withdrawing his hand. “The wind is a bit strong,” he explained softly.
They continued onward, passing a small park. The benches there appeared especially serene under the moon’s glow. Xiao Yi’s mind drifted back to the afternoons they had once shared there, the echoes of laughter still ringing in his ears. His steps grew heavier, his throat constricted as countless words lodged in his chest, unsure where to begin.
Standing beneath her building, Song Qian tilted her head slightly to look at Xiao Yi and whispered, “Thank you for keeping me company tonight. Being with you always feels so comforting.” Her eyes sparkled like hidden stars. After a pause, she added shyly, “Honestly, I really enjoy walking with you. I hope we can have more moments like this in the future.” Her cheeks flushed with a rosy glow, resembling the evening clouds—beautiful and moving—her gaze full of hopeful anticipation, quietly awaiting his response.
Hearing her words, a flash of joy and relief lit up Xiao Yi’s eyes, which had grown dim with the thought of parting. They now shone like stars ignited anew, dazzling and bright.
He leaned forward slightly, instinctively reaching out to grasp this fleeting warmth, but his hand stopped midair, fingers curling gently. He scratched his head softly, a boyish blush spreading from his ears down to his neck. “I’m looking forward to spending many more times like this with you,” he murmured, his voice tinged with nervous hoarseness yet brimming with affection. “If you’re willing, I want to walk you home every night from now on.”
Taking a deep breath, Xiao Yi locked eyes with Song Qian, nerves and hope flickering within. His lips trembled as he finally summoned the courage to ask in a low voice, “What exactly is our relationship?”
Song Qian paused, then her face blossomed into a radiant, resolute smile. She stepped forward and took Xiao Yi’s hand proactively. The touch sent a jolt through his entire body. Looking him straight in the eyes, she said clearly and confidently, “Of course, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend.”
(Oh dear, I hope this passes this time.)
