Cheng Jun hurried over to support Shen Yuezhou, awkwardly explaining, “He really drank too much today; he’s troubled inside.”

Shi Yun’s face was cold as she stepped into the private room, the sound of her high heels striking the floor unusually sharp amidst the noise.

She stopped before Shen Yuezhou, looking down on him with a gaze full of distance and impatience. Her thin lips parted slightly. “What do you want from me?”

Shen Yuezhou’s body stiffened, pierced by the chill in her tone.

He slowly lifted his head, his eyes locking directly with Shi Yun’s, red-rimmed and heavy with unshed tears. His throat felt blocked; he couldn’t utter a word.

Jiang Zhiyu couldn’t help but rush forward. “What were you thinking when you heartlessly dumped her back then? Now you’re playing the victim? Too late!”

Cheng Jun saw this and immediately sprang forward, covering Jiang Zhiyu’s mouth and pulling her toward the door, muttering, “Hey, lady, ease up a little; don’t make things worse.”

The others exchanged knowing glances and promptly followed suit, quietly filing out while gently closing the private room door behind them.

For a moment, only Shi Yun and Shen Yuezhou remained inside.

Silence hung for a few seconds.

Then Shi Yun broke it first.

She gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her voice calm and devoid of warmth: “Shen Yuezhou, my cousin was the one who struck you first today. I’m here to apologize on his behalf.”

With that, she gave a slight bow, but her beautiful eyes remained cold and detached.

Shen Yuezhou still said nothing, staring blankly at her as memories surged like waves.

Their families had a verbal engagement arranged since childhood.

But as they grew older, a rebellious and unwilling spirit swelled within Shen Yuezhou.

He didn’t want to be bound by this engagement and deliberately distanced himself from Shi Yun.

Whenever Shi Yun approached him warmly, he would frown, turn away, and coldly say, “Don’t follow me around. Annoying.”

Seeing her eyes dim instantly brought a tiny flicker of satisfaction to his heart.

Later at school, when Shi Yun was bullied, tears welled in her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to cry. She looked silently toward Shen Yuezhou in the crowd, pleading for help without a word.

Yet he hesitated and ultimately chose to stay out of it, walking away.

He had thought he didn’t like Shi Yun.

Now, looking at her still cool and distant figure before him, Shen Yuezhou was filled with regret.

He had lost her.

His lips trembled as he tried to speak, but his throat remained blocked.

His hands clenched tightly at his sides, knuckles white. His usually indifferent nature was entirely consumed by guilt.

Seeing he remained silent, Shi Yun didn’t want to linger any longer and turned toward the door.

Her slender hand gripped the door handle, slightly tilted it, and her cold voice carried no warmth: “Shen Yuezhou, I came to tell you that the past is past. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. Don’t come to bother me anymore.”

With that, she opened the door and walked out.

Shen Yuezhou snapped out of his daze, panic rising in his chest. He hurried after her and suddenly embraced her tightly from behind.

His eyes bloodshot, usually cold and distant, he begged in a low voice, “Yun Yun, don’t be like this. I know I was wrong. Please come back to me.”

Shi Yun was about to reply when suddenly a strong force pulled her away, causing her to fall into another warm, firm embrace.

A familiar woody scent filled her nose instantly.

Before she could react, a teasing voice sounded overhead.

The man’s thin lips curled into a careless, lazy smile. “So Shen likes to be the third party? Too bad, Yun Yun only has eyes for me.”

Shi Yun: ?

How did she not know about this?

Fu Siyu gave her a reassuring glance.

Shi Yun understood immediately that he was helping to free her from Shen Yuezhou’s entanglement, so she pressed her lips and said nothing.

That was for the best.

She didn’t want any more complications with Shen Yuezhou anyway.

Shen Yuezhou glared fiercely at Fu Siyu, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles whitened, grinding his teeth: “Fu Siyu, stop talking nonsense. Trying to steal her while I’m letting go—what kind of skill is that?”

Fu Siyu’s smile didn’t reach his eyes, carrying a hint of provocation: “Talking nonsense? That depends on who Yun Yun chooses.”

He tightened the hand around Shi Yun’s slender waist slightly.

Shi Yun struggled free, took a step back, and turned to leave.

Choose what?

As if it were some game.

Seeing this, Shen Yuezhou’s heart burned with anxiety, and instinctively he took a step forward to chase her.

But before he could take two steps, Fu Siyu’s gaze turned sharp. With a slight wave of his hand, several burly bodyguards emerged from the shadows and immediately restrained Shen Yuezhou firmly.

Fu Siyu narrowed his eyes, which tightened into a slit, radiating danger and undeniable possessiveness.

He stepped forward and coldly said to the struggling Shen Yuezhou, “Shen Yuezhou, you’d better face reality. Yun Yun will be mine sooner or later. Stay away from her from now on, or I won’t hold back.”

Leaving this harsh warning, Fu Siyu turned and quickly followed Shi Yun’s departing path.

Shi Yun walked briskly, not paying attention to the floor. Her high heel caught on the carpet’s wrinkle.

She stumbled slightly and nearly fell forward.

At that moment, a hand quickly reached out and steadied her, helping her regain her balance.

Shi Yun’s heart still fluttered as she turned to look at the person who had steadied her.

It was Fu Siyu, a faint smile lingering at the corner of his lips, his eyes filled with gentle concern.

Recalling his clever intervention just now, Shi Yun’s resistance toward him softened somewhat, and her tone eased a little. “Thank you.”

Fu Siyu’s lips curved into a smile. “No need to thank me. I’m happy to help.”

Shi Yun was momentarily taken aback.

He had helped her several times now.

Indeed, he was quite willing to lend a hand.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you home,” Fu Siyu said, slightly stepping aside.

“No need. I can manage on my own…”

Before she could finish, Fu Siyu interrupted with a raised brow, “What, Miss Yun Yun, are you afraid I’ll eat you up?”

Shi Yun glanced at him sharply. “I don’t want to trouble you. I’ll just take a taxi.”

Fu Siyu stepped closer, his eyes filled with a hint of mischief. His voice dropped a few degrees, laced with coaxing charm, “It’s not safe to take a taxi this late. Just consider it a favor for saving you earlier. Let me take you, okay?”

Shi Yun was slightly stunned and, almost involuntarily, nodded.

It wasn’t until she got into the passenger seat that she realized it.

Had he just coaxed her? How had she ended up following him so easily?

He called it a favor, but wasn’t she the one who owed him now?

Fu Siyu caught a glimpse of the faintly shy expression on her face and smiled even more deeply, feeling pleased as he started the car.

One hand controlled the steering wheel, the other casually rested by the window, fingers tapping lightly.

Shi Yun’s gaze was absentmindedly cast out the window.

Watching the cityscape slide backward, her thoughts drifted back to Shen Yuezhou’s attitude toward her just now.

It was clear he cared deeply for her.

Yet strangely, she didn’t feel happy because of it.

Fu Siyu noticed her distraction and, with a half-smile, said, “Yun Yun said she doesn’t play the same man twice. Is that still true?”
