Chapter 107: The Strange Dimension
How long had it been? Wei Hua’s consciousness gradually returned, but something felt amiss. He realized he could not control his body, and he seemed to be trapped within a strange realm. Oddly, he found that his perception of his surroundings was not through his eyes, but rather through a highly sensitive sensing ability. This time, it appeared his sensing had improved; in this peculiar space, his senses functioned just as well as eyesight.
Calming himself, Wei Hua pondered carefully, then scrutinized the strange environment. Purple electric sparks and white mist-like energy occasionally flickered within the space. Suddenly, a realization dawned on him—inner vision! He was experiencing inner vision! This strange realm must be his spirit sea. Many great masters from the Origin Point had described this phenomenon: when a person’s spiritual power reaches a certain stage, a wondrous ability emerges. Now it had manifested within him, yet ironically, he hadn’t noticed it before, though he once envied those protagonists who possessed such powers.
But soon, Wei Hua noticed something unusual. His spirit sea contained purple electric currents alongside white spiritual energy. From what he understood through those masters’ descriptions, spiritual energy should be white, while the purple electricity was something he absorbed. Yet, above his spirit sea was a black hole—something he could not comprehend. None of the Origin Point’s great masters had ever mentioned such a phenomenon.
Wei Hua directed his spiritual awareness near the black hole and sensed it exerted no attraction. After probing, he discovered a strange energy barrier sealing the black hole. Quickly, he realized his spiritual sense could easily pass through the energy barrier blocking the black hole’s entrance. He lingered outside the black hole for a long time, aware that if his spirit were swallowed by it, he would become a comatose vegetable, never to awaken. Still, Wei Hua felt no danger from the black hole and decided to take the risk and venture inside.
His spiritual sense swiftly passed the energy barrier and entered an even stranger dimension. It resembled a vast cosmic void, yet it was not quite so; this space was shrouded in darkness, with only a single point of light. No universe could contain only one star. Suddenly, an unexpected gravitational pull drew Wei Hua’s spirit toward the glowing point. He then realized the light was an artificial planet—a planetary fortress. A silent gate opened before him, drawing him inward, then silently closed behind him.
At that moment, Wei Hua felt his form restored to corporeal shape. He found himself in a hall where a plain-faced female holographic projection appeared and spoke:
“Welcome to my world, host!”
“Who are you? Where is this place? Why is it connected to my spirit sea?” Wei Hua asked, intuitively suspecting this had something to do with a bio-computer.
“You should sit down and listen carefully. I believe we will need a long time to communicate. Let me introduce myself: I am Sophia Grumman Northrop—at least, that was my name in life. I am now the central control computer of this planetary base, or as you might say, the mainframe.”
“What is your relationship with the bio-computer?” Wei Hua inquired.
“The bio-computer you mentioned is a communicator I meticulously engineered. It combines our spatial technology, biotechnology, automatic control, and energy compression and transmission techniques,” Sophia explained.
“Why create such a communicator? Are you trapped here, unable to escape?” Wei Hua pressed further.
“Smart guess! Indeed, I am confined within this space and require assistance from the outside world,” Sophia responded.
“Then why not ask Xuan Yi, the Immortal Emperor, for help?” Wei Hua asked.
“You mean that strange man with tremendous power?” Wei Hua nodded.
“His spiritual force is too overwhelming. I fear he might control or destroy me,” Sophia explained simply.
“I know you must have many questions, but please listen to my story and the reasons behind creating this communicator before asking,” Sophia said, beginning her tale.
Sophia hailed from another universe. In her world’s era, humanity was at the peak of technological explosion—new innovations emerging ceaselessly. Humanity had quickly ventured beyond their home planet into the interstellar age, with great advancements in human biology allowing gene modification for stronger bodies and extended lifespans. Sophia was a prodigy, displaying extraordinary intelligence since childhood.
As the interstellar era progressed, society increasingly valued scientific work. Sophia was nurtured by a government-funded scientific organization, expected to become a great scientist contributing profoundly to humanity. Their hopes were fulfilled when, at age 40, Sophia became a leading researcher in cosmic spatial studies.
Throughout her life, Sophia made numerous technological breakthroughs. Her most remarkable achievement was the development of interdimensional information transmission technology, enabling communication across the vast cosmos and elevating inter-universal space exploration to unprecedented heights.
