Chapter 118: I Will Never Let You Go

Mo Qi had said not to let Brother Shen find out—why did he open his mouth? What should be done now! Xiao Zhang deeply regretted his loose tongue just now, feeling utterly distressed. Shen Yijue clearly had no intention of ignoring the matter, his gaze fixed on Xiao Zhang. Unable to withstand his imposing aura, Xiao Zhang finally gave in, deflated: “Yes, Mo Qi did sleep in the corridor last night. When I came over just now, I saw her sleeping on the bench outside.” Upon hearing this, Shen Yijue remained silent. Xiao Zhang cautiously asked, “Brother Shen, Mo Qi told me not to tell you she was seen in the corridor. Could you not say it was me? I’m afraid she’ll be angry and stop talking to me.” “Doctor Dai is on duty. Tell him I’m discharged.” “Huh? You’re still being discharged early?” Xiao Zhang muttered inwardly, thinking that once Mo Qi moved out, Brother Shen would take better care of himself. “Why stay hospitalized over a minor cold? I’m going home to rest.” “Oh?” Going home to rest is definitely better than continuing to work. Xiao Zhang breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m just going to see Doctor Dai.” “No need.” Dai Yanglin, dressed in a white coat and holding a medical file, walked in slowly. He glanced sideways at Shen Yijue and said, “You were admitted yesterday with a high fever of 39.8 degrees Celsius. The fever has only just subsided, and now you want to leave? Yijue, has your brain been fried by the fever?” Xiao Zhang knew that Doctor Dai and Shen Yijue were good friends, so he did not interrupt despite the harsh tone. In fact, he quietly slipped out. Yesterday, Brother Shen had fainted from the high fever, his entire body burning hot; thinking back, Xiao Zhang still felt a shiver of fear. He blamed himself for not being diligent enough at work, unable to notice Brother Shen’s abnormal condition. Shen Yijue ignored Dai Yanglin and put on his suit jacket. Dai Yanglin sighed helplessly at the disregard. “Yijue, even if you’re in a bad mood, you can’t joke with your own health. You’re already sleep-deprived and working nonstop. If you want to die, don’t do it like this!” “I know my own body,” Shen Yijue replied, understanding his friend’s concern. “Prescribe some medicine. I’ll take it home.” “What about the medicine I gave you last night? Did you take it?” “Spilled it.” “What?” Dai Yanglin momentarily doubted his ears. His eyes swept the hospital bed, noticing an empty cup with dried water, and suddenly he understood something. “I thought I was mistaken last night, but it really was Mo Qi sleeping on the bench,” Dai Yanglin teased. “So the reason you’re torturing your body like this is because you had a fight with your little girlfriend.”

Shen Yijue lifted his eyelids and glanced coldly at Dai Yanglin. “Don’t speak. No one thinks you’re mute.” “Don’t say that!” Dai Yanglin grinned mischievously. “Little Master Shen actually wrecking his body over a woman only proves one thing. Tsk tsk, never thought it—Little Master Shen actually has a heart that can be moved. We always thought your heart was made of stone.” Shen Yijue, tired of his noisy and gloating friend, put on his sunglasses and headed out. “Hey, Yijue, wait!” Dai Yanglin chased after him. “Since you’re serious, when will you introduce her to us brothers?” Shen Yijue paused briefly before replying, “Maybe another time.” “Tsk tsk, still hiding it, huh?” Shen Yijue looked at him sideways. Dai Yanglin immediately raised his hands in surrender. “Fine, fine. Introducing her later is fine too. Since you insist on leaving, at least take the medicine. Three times a day, on time! I don’t want to have to pick you up again in an ambulance.” “You want to, but I won’t give you the chance.” Shen Yijue strode toward the elevator at the end of the corridor. Xiao Zhang smiled at Dai Yanglin: “Doctor Dai, I’ll go get the medicine with you.” “Bad temper. Wonder what kind of woman can put up with him!” Dai Yanglin snorted twice before saying to Xiao Zhang, “Let’s go. I’ll write the prescription; you get the medicine.” Shen Yijue took the elevator alone down to the underground garage. “Click!” A camera flash suddenly went off. The paparazzi who had been sneaking photos slapped his forehead—damn! Forgot to adjust the camera settings! Shen Yijue stopped in his tracks. “Come out.” The paparazzi was frustrated. News had already spread online about Shen Yijue collapsing from a high fever during filming yesterday. His fans had gone crazy. Unfortunately, only one photo and a few short words had been released. Nothing further had come out since. Fans were heartbroken, terribly worried about their idol. No one in the circle knew which hospital Shen Yijue had been sent to afterward. Now, this paparazzo had sneaked into Rende Hospital’s underground garage, waiting all night just to try his luck. Suddenly seeing Shen Yijue, he was so excited he’d even forgotten to adjust his camera. Shen Yijue spoke two words and stood his ground, refusing to move forward.

The paparazzo sighed for a long time but, faced with Shen Yijue’s status and influence, had no choice but to reveal himself. “Haha, King Shen, good morning.” The paparazzo smiled as he stepped out from behind a pillar, almost bowing deeply. “Hand it over.” Shen Yijue reached out, unwilling to say another word. It seemed the photos just taken wouldn’t be saved; he only hoped his camera wouldn’t be broken. It was bought after three months of scrimping and saving, and it was expensive. The paparazzo internally lamented as he handed over the camera with both hands. Shen Yijue took the camera, found the recent photos, and deleted them permanently. “Aside from work, I don’t like entertainment reporters interfering in my private life.” Though his tone was calm, it was a genuine warning. After speaking, Shen Yijue returned the camera and added, “Nice new camera. It’d be a shame to smash it.” “Haha, King Shen, I’ll be careful from now on.” The paparazzo hurriedly hid the camera, afraid Shen Yijue might change his mind and smash it after all. He’d have nowhere to complain then. Shen Yijue ignored the paparazzo and got into his car. The paparazzo sneaked a glance at the vehicle—a black Volkswagen. No wonder no reporter had ever managed to follow Shen Yijue’s car. In an era when most stars preferred Lamborghinis or Ferraris, someone as big as King Shen was surprisingly low-key. After sitting in the car for a while, Shen Yijue took out his phone and dialed Mo Qi’s number. Mo Qi had just returned to the dorm, about to shower and catch up on sleep, but paused at the incoming call. She had thought Shen Yijue wouldn’t bother with her anytime soon. “Hello?” Mo Qi hesitated but answered. The line connected, yet Shen Yijue said nothing. Puzzled, Mo Qi furrowed her brows. “King Shen?” “Mo Qi,” Shen Yijue suddenly spoke. “I won’t let you off. Give up.”
