Chapter 107: Spectators Thrive on Drama

“Holy mother of—!” Mo Qi spat inwardly and said, “Parents and children share blood ties, and they still sometimes quarrel and sulk. Isn’t it normal for friends to have small disputes now and then, Editor-in-Chief Liu?”
“Very normal,” Liu Yi smiled. “But when three friends suddenly drift apart, and two of them become a couple, well, that leaves quite a bit of room for speculation.”
“Editor-in-Chief Liu, with such vivid imagination, it’s a shame you’re not writing novels.”
“I’ll seriously consider Miss Mo’s sincere advice.”
Mo Qi was too tired to bother with him. This guy was only trying to dig up some news by getting close to her, but unfortunately, she had nothing to offer.
They stopped talking and quietly continued dancing. Whether it was just her imagination or not, Mo Qi felt Liu Yi subtly guiding her, and with a turn, they ended up right next to He Shuai and Sun Feifei, who were dancing together.
Mo Qi lifted her eyelids to glance at Liu Yi, who smiled innocently.
Mo Qi grit her teeth in frustration.
Today, Sun Feifei wore a floor-length evening gown that even had a train dragging on the ground. If she pretended not to notice and lightly stepped on that corner, she would definitely fall during a spin. He Shuai, holding her, would almost certainly fall too—at least an eighty percent chance. Such a perfect opportunity was right in front of her; letting it slip by would be a real waste.
But standing right there was Liu Yi, the Editor-in-Chief of Dongdu Entertainment, clearly waiting for a show. Should she really give him the performance he wanted? Moreover, Liu Yi had been casually showing her kindness from the start, but she never truly figured out his intentions.
Mo Qi felt deeply conflicted.
Seeing Mo Qi still unmoved, Liu Yi glanced down at her.
Mo Qi wished she could spit a mouthful of soda in his face. If he wanted a show, couldn’t he be a little more discreet? It was infuriating.
“Editor-in-Chief Liu, why are you looking at me? Did a nose suddenly grow on my face?” Mo Qi snapped.
Liu Yi chuckled softly and lightly squeezed Mo Qi’s fingers.
Mo Qi glared. “What are you doing? Watch out or I’ll accuse you of sexual harassment!”
“Just watch,” Liu Yi suddenly tightened his embrace around her waist and twirled her once.
Mo Qi, dizzy from the spin, hadn’t yet regained her balance when she suddenly heard Sun Feifei’s sharp scream.
“Ah!” Sun Feifei cried out and fell backward with a thud.
As she fell, she panicked and grabbed onto He Shuai, causing him to fall with her.
“Bang!” He Shuai’s elbow hit the floor with a loud thump. Everyone nearby winced in sympathy.

Liu Yi discreetly pulled back his foot, winked at Mo Qi, and stepped aside to watch the spectacle.
Mo Qi had nothing to say.
“Ouch.” He Shuai gasped in pain but maintained his gentlemanly demeanor as he helped Sun Feifei up. “Feifei, are you alright?”
Falling backward like that, Sun Feifei’s most painful spot was her backside, but she was too embarrassed to say so and just shook her head awkwardly. “I’m fine. I don’t know who stepped on my dress. Is your elbow okay?”
“I’m used to falling while practicing dance, so it’s nothing.” He Shuai glanced at her dress, promptly took off his blazer, and tied it around her waist. “It looks like the dress tore; better to tie it up for now.”
Sun Feifei was already over thirty. Though still youthful and pretty, her mindset had aged. Facing the concern of a young, handsome man like He Shuai, she was genuinely touched.
She gave him a sultry glance and whispered, “A-Shuai, thank you.”
If only she could tame a boy seven or eight years younger than herself and settle down into a peaceful marriage, it wouldn’t be so bad.
“Don’t mention it. I’ll have my assistant send you a new dress later. For now, let me help you to your room to rest.”
“All right, I’ll do as you say.” Sun Feifei leaned slightly into He Shuai’s embrace.
He Shuai pretended not to notice, supporting her as he said to the others, “I’ll take Feifei to her room to rest. You all carry on; I’ll be right back.”
Could he really leave so quickly after escorting someone to their room? They all saw the longing look in Feifei’s eyes.
Everyone knew what was going on but said nothing, “Go ahead, don’t worry about us.”
He Shuai nodded and escorted Sun Feifei away.
Sister Shang stood in the corner with a sullen expression, watching them leave, and snorted coldly, “A vile woman is always delicate!”
After they left, the others resumed dancing and having fun.
Mo Qi silently slipped out of the dance floor, and Liu Yi followed.
Mo Qi gave him a speechless glance. “Editor-in-Chief Liu, are you heading to the restroom too?”
Liu Yi was obviously surprised that Mo Qi had used the classic escape-by-bathroom trick and hesitated.
Before he could react, Mo Qi quickly walked away.
She had never known Liu Yi, yet he suddenly approached her with friendliness. Such unsolicited attentiveness was either suspicious or deceitful. She didn’t have the energy to deal with him!
Exiting the living room, Mo Qi wandered down the villa’s corridors, turning corners without knowing where she was going. But since she just wanted some fresh air, she didn’t care. Passing through an archway, she found herself in a green space dotted with trees.
The streetlights here were off; only two lamps near the entrance were lit, casting a faint glow. Mo Qi vaguely saw what looked like a swing under the trees and walked toward it.

Mo Qi had barely gone a few steps when she heard rustling from the dimly lit bushes.
Startled, she wanted to turn back. It was summer—she hoped it wasn’t a snake.
“小坏蛋.” (“You little rascal.”) The voice successfully stopped her footsteps.
She knew that voice all too well; she had heard it just over twenty days ago.
Mo Qi’s expression turned cold. She immediately guessed who was sneaking around in the woods having an affair besides He Shuai and Sun Feifei!
Just a moment ago, he was professing love for his girlfriend, and now he was running off into the woods to fool around with another woman. To hell with that “girlfriend”!
Anger surged inside Mo Qi, but after taking a few deep breaths, she managed to suppress it. Hmph, if you two like cheating so much, then go ahead and cheat to your heart’s content.
Mo Qi pulled out her phone from the convenient wrist pouch and also took out Liu Yi’s business card, then dialed his number.
The phone rang twice before someone answered.
Walking back to the corridor, Mo Qi spoke softly, “Editor-in-Chief Liu, the moonlight in the garden is enchanting tonight, especially under the trees, which have a unique charm. Why don’t we invite everyone over to enjoy it together?”
She had just been deliberately avoiding him, but now she was suddenly inviting him and everyone else to appreciate the moonlight?
Liu Yi instantly understood Mo Qi’s real intention.
Appreciating the moonlight was just a pretense; the real goal was to watch a show.
“I was just feeling stifled inside the hall and was about to invite some friends to get some fresh air. Wait for us; we’ll be there shortly.”
Liu Yi’s insight and tact were impeccable—he was incredibly sharp.
Mo Qi put away her phone and smiled silently.
Soon, Liu Yi arrived with several familiar friends.
“Oh my, tonight’s moonlight is truly splendid,” Liu Yi said, looking up at the sky, lavishly praising the moon, though a thick cloud covered much of its face.
The others were no fools; they exchanged glances and said nothing, just waiting for the show to unfold.
Liu Yi admired the night sky, then glanced toward the garden and the woods. “There are benches under those trees; let’s go sit there. Mo Qi, will you join us?”
(You know what this means. You know.)
