Chapter 25: I Enjoy Hunting Anomalies

Listening to the system notifications echoing continuously in her mind, Xie Yunnuo curled her lips into a smile.

After she walked away in her high heels, the corpses of the two ghouls she had disposed of dissipated into the hallway. Xie Yunnuo flicked the dark red liquid from her fingertips and began searching room by room along the corridor.

Pushing open the door to room 106, she found it empty. Xie Yunnuo sighed with feigned regret at the doorway, "Oh my, no one in this room either!"

Once the door was shut, Bai Miaomiao, huddled inside a narrow cabinet, relaxed her tightly clenched fists. As the sound of high heels clicking on the floor faded into the distance, Bai Miaomiao finally let her guard down.

However, before she could even push the cabinet door open, the sound of high heels walking returned to the room.

Bai Miaomiao’s hand froze in mid-air. Her heart rate spiked, beating so fast it felt as if it might burst out of her chest. Her own heartbeat thundered in her ears, growing louder and louder...

Hearing the relentless "Fear points from Bai Miaomiao +100" chime in her mind, Xie Yunnuo, who had teleported into the room, raised an eyebrow. She had just thought of a better way to earn fear points.

Quickly adjusting her tone, Xie Yunnuo spoke up.

"Miaomiao, it’s me! Have you forgotten? It’s Jingjing."
"Miaomiao, I’m so scared all by myself. Can you come out and keep me company?"
"Miaomiao, I know you’re in the room. I can even smell you!"

As soon as Xie Yunnuo finished speaking, a scream erupted from the cabinet in the corner.

Xie Yunnuo thought: No wonder Zhao Jingjing flew into a rage when she mentioned those symptoms earlier. So... she really did have that illness!

This Bai Miaomiao had a much higher tolerance than Zhao Jingjing, but Xie Yunnuo had no interest in listening to her gossip about that so-called Zhao Jingjing.

Xie Yunnuo teleported directly in front of the metal cabinet and violently tore the door off. During this process, the fear contributed by Bai Miaomiao rose from 100 to 300 per instance. Xie Yunnuo stopped in her tracks as a ghoul appeared before her. The stench of blood on the creature was thick; she didn't need to guess what it had just been doing.

Seeing the ghastly transformation of Xie Yunnuo in the hallway, the duty doctor who had just stepped out of a patient room froze in place. The C-rank ghastly aura radiating from Xie Yunnuo made him, a mere D-rank ghoul, afraid to move. He didn't even dare to wipe away the blood trickling from his mouth, letting the warm liquid drip down his blood-stained and grimy white coat.

Xie Yunnuo remained silent, and the ghoul doctor didn't dare to budge. The only sound in the quiet hallway was the "drip, drip" of liquid hitting the floor.

"Is it delicious? Why didn't you wipe your mouth clean? What a waste."

As she spoke, Xie Yunnuo retracted her aura, her expression shifting into a kindly smile. The ghoul doctor hurriedly wiped his mouth.

"It must be hard work being on duty tonight."
"I don't really have much use for this, so why don't you have it?"

Xie Yunnuo signaled the "Bai Miaomiao" behind her to step forward. The ghoul doctor’s eyes lit up, ignoring the mess on his face, and he trotted over to "Bai Miaomiao," eyeing her while asking Xie Yunnuo, "Chief Xie, are you really giving her to me?"

"Yes."

Upon hearing her confirmation, the ghoul doctor’s eyes crinkled into slits with delight. "Then what does Chief Xie like? I'll keep an eye out for you."

"I like hunting ghouls!"

"Huh?"

Before the ghoul doctor could even ask, he saw his own heart appear outside his body. Looking down, he saw a slender, well-proportioned arm protruding through his chest.

A second later, his heart was crushed to a pulp. Xie Yunnuo pulled back her hand and snapped the ghoul doctor’s neck. Even in death, the doctor remained immersed in the joy of the delicious meal he thought he was about to receive.

"Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunnuo for successfully killing a D-rank ghoul—the Ghoul Doctor."
"Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunnuo for gaining 50,000 fear points and 1,000 ghost coins!"

Xie Yunnuo kicked the ghoul doctor aside. Outside the hospital, the world was completely shrouded in darkness. The only light came from the flickering, dying bulbs in the hospital corridor.
