Chapter 19: No! You're Sick!
A few seconds later, a piercing pain surged through him, and Wang Renheng couldn’t help but scream out in agony.
Immediately, he took a rapid step back, putting distance between himself and Xie Yunyan.
“Ding, fear value increased by 300 from Zhao Jingqing.”
“Ding, fear value increased by 150 from Bai Miaomiao.”
“Ding, from…”
Hearing the constant chimes in her mind from the main system, Xie Yunyan faintly curled her lips.
She watched as Wang Renheng pulled out a bandage seemingly out of thin air and skillfully wrapped it around his injury.
Raising an eyebrow, Xie Yunyan then walked over to the nearby registration desk and sat down.
Curiously, she kept her eyes on Wang Renheng as he tended to his own wound.
Once the bandaging was finished, Wang Renheng glared at Xie Yunyan with anger.
“You!”
Seeing Xie Yunyan begin tapping the table rhythmically, Wang Renheng uttered a single word before shutting his mouth.
Though furious at Xie Yunyan’s untrustworthiness, he knew he couldn’t defeat her and had no choice but to swallow his loss in silence.
“The patient Wang Shouli’s mania is worsening.”
After finishing her sentence, she noticed Chen Wanchong still standing there in a daze, so Xie Yunyan stopped tapping the table.
Zhang Yourou elbowed Chen Wanchong sharply.
Chen Wanchong quickly snapped out of it and busied himself filling out the medical case notes.
Once Chen Wanchong finished writing down Wang Renheng’s alias and medical details, Xie Yunyan pulled out two pills from the drawer—one blue, one red—both clearly no ordinary medicine.
Of course, Wang Renheng wasn’t foolish. Seeing the pills pushed toward him, he instinctively wanted to refuse.
“If you don’t take the medicine, your condition will worsen!”
“If the patient resists medication,” Xie Yunyan said, glancing at Zhang Yourou and Chen Wanchong, “then our medical staff here will have to forcibly administer it.”
When Xie Yunyan started threatening him, Wang Renheng looked at his severed arm, then took a few steps forward and took the pills in his hand.
After a glance at Xie Yunyan, he shoved the pills into his mouth.
Seeing Wang Renheng swallow the pills, Xie Yunyan immediately returned to her smiling expression.
“Alright, next.”
Having witnessed Wang Renheng’s experience, the next human player dared not protest and obediently took the pills Xie Yunyan offered.
When it came to the last player, perhaps stirred by Wang Renheng’s severed arm, they spoke up before Xie Yunyan could say a word.
“I’m not sick. I don’t know anything about the illnesses you mentioned!”
“No! You are sick! You have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—PTSD!”
Xie Yunyan maintained her smile. “So just take the medicine quietly.”
After speaking, she pushed the two pills across the table.
The female player accompanying Zhao Jingqing didn’t understand what Zhao Jingqing was causing such a fuss about.
What kind of trauma had this fool Zhao Jingqing suffered?
Had she forgotten the real, eerie threat facing her?
Having survived alongside Zhao Jingqing for several days, she couldn’t bear to see her die.
Also, Bai Miaomiao was afraid of having no one to accompany her next.
So, suppressing her fear, she shouted, “Zhao Jingqing! What are you doing? Snap out of it!”
But before Zhao Jingqing could regain composure, Xie Yunyan turned to look at her, and Bai Miaomiao quickly shut her mouth.
In the next moment, she saw that foolish Zhao Jingqing had thrown the pills on the table to the floor.
Bai Miaomiao closed her eyes. “No hope… just wait for death.”
Though expecting this outcome, when warm blood splattered onto her face, Bai Miaomiao couldn’t help but mutter, This place is too terrifying! She wanted to go home!
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan for successfully eliminating a player and earning 100 ghost coins.”
“Ding, junior nurses Zhang Yourou and Chen Wanchong have completed their tasks.”
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan on obtaining the position of Director of Psychiatry at Chongshan Mental Hospital.”
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan for earning 200 ghost coins.”
“Ding, the exclusive attire and new work ID for the Director of Psychiatry at Chongshan Mental Hospital have been placed on the desk.”
Listening to the relentless notifications in her mind from the main system, Xie Yunyan smiled faintly.
Casting a cold glance at the corpse on the ground, she then turned her eyes to Chen Wanchong behind her.
Pointing at him, she said, “You! Drag this corpse to Dr. Zhao’s office on the third floor.”
“Also, the two of you clean up all the trash in this room.”
“Return these patients to their own wards.”
“Remember, no one is to leave—there will be consequences!”
After warning the remaining players in the examination room, Xie Yunyan left carrying Wang Renheng’s severed arm.
As for how Zhang Yourou, Chen Wanchong, and Wang Renheng would get along from now on, that was no longer her concern.
Because… the path you choose is your own.
And the outcome you receive is what you deserve.
“Host, shall we return to the office now?”
“No, there are other matters to attend to.”
Xie Yunyan said this while looking at the severed arm in her hand with a smile.
System 368 responded with an “Oh” and then fell silent.
After all, its host was far more capable and reliable—it had no need to worry.
In the hallway, Xie Yunyan encountered several nurses.
Naturally, she also noticed their eerie, covetous gazes fixed on the severed arm in her hand.
Xie Yunyan paid them no mind; instead, she lifted the arm in front of her, letting those eerie beings get a clearer look.
Xie Yunyan thought: Hmph! You can only look, not eat. You’ll just starve from greed!
Amid a cluster of nurses’ eerie, envious stares, Xie Yunyan stepped into the elevator.
Inside, she disdainfully tossed the severed arm to the floor beside Xiyun.
“Come out, let’s have a talk.”
Seeing no movement inside the elevator, Xie Yunyan smiled and nudged the arm forward with her foot.
“Don’t want to eat it? If not, I’ll take it away.”
She bent down, apparently to pick up the arm.
Before she could reach it, a corner of the elevator began to writhe.
Soon, a half-human figure appeared, clutching the severed arm.
Why half?
Because the elevator creature only showed its upper body; its waist down merged with the elevator itself.
“Did you really give it to me?”
“Really!”
Xie Yunyan smiled and, in the next moment, transformed into her eerie form.
With a fierce slash from her right hand, she struck at the creature on the floor.
The elevator creature was only an F-level eerie with no defense.
It was immediately cut in half by Xie Yunyan and then dissipated inside the elevator.
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan for successfully eliminating F-level eerie—the Elevator Eerie.”
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan for gaining 10,000 fear points.”
“Ding, congratulations to player Xie Yunyan for earning 200 ghost coins.”
“Really, even after becoming an eerie, you still don’t understand that there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world?”
After speaking, Xie Yunyan turned and violently kicked open the elevator doors.
She then swiftly climbed to the third floor.
Once standing, she gracefully smoothed her clothes before stepping toward her office.
Upon entering, she noticed her office had grown considerably larger.
The former Dr. Xie’s office had now become Director Xie’s office.
“Not bad.”
Xie Yunyan said as she opened the door.
Inside, on the desk, lay her new work uniform.
