Upon seeing the rapid increase of phantom coins and fear value on her personal status panel, Xie Yunxuan burst out laughing with joy.
After her laughter, the office felt even quieter.
But in the next moment, several chaotic footsteps appeared outside the door.
The footsteps passed by Xie Yunxuan’s door without stopping, still rushing deeper into the hallway.
Her ears twitched slightly. Besides the footsteps, she sensed the faint human scent drifting in from outside.
Unconsciously, Xie Yunxuan closed her eyes and gently sniffed the air carrying the human aroma.
It was faint yet alluring...
When she opened her eyes again, her pitch-black pupils had turned into a vivid crimson.
System 368, noticing this, sneaked closer with a mischievous look.
“Host, should we go out?”
“No,” Xie Yunxuan replied, slowly retracting her long claws.
“We've gathered enough tonight.”
She smiled and stretched lazily, just like she did when she was human.
The hallway fell silent once more.
It was as if the previous noises were just illusions.
“Why not, Host?”
Based on the recent sounds detected, there were at least three or four human players outside.
If she went out now to harvest fear value and phantom coins, it would certainly be a plentiful gain.
System 368 couldn’t understand how Xie Yunxuan could stay calm and refuse such a bounty.
Besides, it couldn’t refuse!
“System, even as a special player, I’m not absolutely safe in this dungeon!”
“Besides, these human scents are far more tempting than any I’ve encountered before!”
“They make it impossible for me to control myself. This is definitely a trap.”
Xie Yunxuan said this while savoring the thought, her crimson eyes staring intently at System 368.

System 368 felt intimidated by her gaze and instinctively took a step back in midair.
“I’m neither that stupid nor do I lose control like those weird entities do.”
“So how could I possibly go out?”
Xie Yunxuan said, smiling with her eyes, provocatively staring toward the door.
Though she appeared to be talking to System 368, her words were really meant for the unknown entity outside.
Since it had shown murderous intent toward her, she saw no reason to keep up a good face for it.
Hearing Xie Yunxuan’s certainty, System 368 was at a loss for words.
After being startled by her gaze earlier, it avoided looking at her again.
Naturally, it was unaware of her provocative gesture.
Nor did it know that an entity was blending into the hallway’s darkness just outside the door, half its body merging with the shadows.
But it knew it had just been called stupid by its host.
“368 is not stupid!”
Just as Xie Yunxuan returned to normal, she was momentarily stunned by this strange outburst.
Quickly realizing the reason, she laughed softly.
The next moment, she reached out to ruffle System 368’s head.
“I was talking about the entity outside, not you.”
“What? A system throwing a tantrum? How rare!”
Upon hearing there was another entity outside, System 368 immediately composed itself.
Ignoring the teasing in Xie Yunxuan’s words, it began scanning the hallway outside the office.
Detecting a spot with stronger phantom aura than the rest, System 368’s expression changed instantly.
Without bothering to talk to Xie Yunxuan, it logged into the system backend for a closer inspection.
Finding no immediate danger, System 368 gradually relaxed.
Seeing this, Xie Yunxuan raised an eyebrow, silently asking System 368 to share what it found.
“Host, luckily we returned in time. Otherwise, that thing would have blocked the door.”
“Thankfully, it can only roam inside the hallway,” System 368 said with relief.
Then, it reached from its back, extending tentacles to pat its nonexistent chest.
Seeing a system with no chest but only a belly make this gesture, Xie Yunxuan stifled a silent laugh.
Noticing her smile, System 368 immediately leaned closer to ask,
“Host, do you think it’s also a ‘patient’?”
After asking, it glanced toward the door.
“Tsk tsk tsk, Host, this entity is quite persistent.”

Xie Yunxuan shook her head, indicating she wasn’t quite sure.
Then, with a grin, she countered, “Do you know why it’s so determined to block me?”
Her eyes gleamed with pride.
She had quickly figured it out and managed to trick that entity—thanks to her habit of paying attention to details.
“No idea,” System 368 honestly shook its head, then seriously asked,
“Why?”
“Because I tricked it.”
Xie Yunxuan said cheerfully, glancing at System 368.
Her system was truly foolish but fortunate.
Since entering this game dungeon until now, Xie Yunxuan had grasped a bit of the rules.
She didn’t know about the daytime, but guessed it belonged to the doctors and nurses.
During the day, doctors held the greatest authority, probably from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to midnight was the players’ active time.
Considering her identity and the two extra nurse uniforms she had, Xie Yunxuan speculated that during this period there would be one phantom doctor and two nurses on duty.
The late night was the patients’ free time, from midnight to 7 a.m. the next day.
During this time, the phantom patients would roam outside their confined wards.
Anyone appearing in the hallway during this period was in trouble.
System 368 pondered but still couldn’t understand how Xie Yunxuan tricked the entity outside.
Seeing Xie Yunxuan lost in thought with a smile, it asked curiously,
“Host, when did you trick this entity?”
“And how did you even know there was such an entity?”
Upon hearing this, Xie Yunxuan squinted at the unreliable system.
“Remember when we went out hunting phantoms? We encountered several human players wandering around.”
System 368 thought for a moment.
“Yes, we met them a few times, but what does that have to do with this entity?”
“If I’m right, after midnight, these patients come out from another dimension.”
“But when we went out, we only found three phantom patients.”
“And those human players we saw were alive and well.”
“Obviously, they hadn’t encountered many other phantoms.”
“But how could there be only three phantoms in a hospital? That’s just not normal!”
