Chapter Fifty-One: Spatial Gem, Colorless Card
A Rubik's Cube, essentially a square cube in shape.
Observing it up close, the cube emanates a mysterious and peculiar aura, as if it harbors a miniature universe within. Kyle suppressed his excitement, materialized the Vibranium Armguard item card and slid it onto his bare right hand before reaching out to grasp the cube held between the venomous shark's jaws and the wooden plank.
The moment his vibranium-protected hand closed around the Cosmic Cube, two dazzling card messages leapt into his field of vision. Neither of these cards matched any of the familiar white, green, blue, or purple hues; instead, they were nearly colorless, shimmering with a pure, crystalline brilliance.
[Cosmic Cube]:
A container housing the Space Stone, one of the Infinity Stones, also known as the Infinite Cube. Colorless item card.
Possesses spatial power, able to open portals and transport people and objects to any place in the universe.
Current status: Cannot be extracted (integrated with Space Stone), difficult to use.
The second colorless card was nearly fused to the first, like overlapping shadows.
[Space Stone]:
One of the six Infinity Stones, the stone governing space. Colorless item card.
Among the earliest and most powerful objects in the universe.
With this stone, one can instantly move themselves or any object to any location in the cosmos.
It can also warp space at will or rearrange it, and at its peak can easily achieve spatial teleportation, stasis, or reversal.
Current status: Extractable, but difficult to master.
"Two...colorless item cards?" Kyle was momentarily bewildered. He had expected only a single [Cosmic Cube] item card, but his card extraction ability forcibly distinguished the gem from its container.
The container could not be extracted, but the Space Stone could—
Should he extract it or not?
Kyle weighed the pros and cons, quickly reaching a decision.
Extract! If you don’t, you’ll regret it!
Even if this godlike item were left untouched, it would only sit idle on Earth for over half a century, until the 21st century when Thor’s brother Loki arrived and began to unlock its spatial secrets.
Although the Infinity Stones would become a hot potato once Thanos began collecting them, if he could study and grasp the extraordinary abilities of the Space Stone ahead of time, that would be a true leap to greatness!
Kyle made up his mind and focused his attention on the colorless [Space Stone] card.
Begin extraction!
‘Please maintain a distance of three centimeters from the item and continue extraction for three hours’
‘Extraction countdown begins: 10799s, 10798s...’
Kyle: "..."
Maintain three centimeters, extract for three hours? Blue rarity items only required being within one meter and three seconds of extraction!
"Should I say this is truly worthy of colorless rarity?" Kyle smiled wryly, gripping the Cosmic Cube, settling back into the sun chair to wait patiently. With no missions at hand, he could afford the time.
If his guess was correct, colorless was the highest card rarity, leagues above purple.
Perhaps the Infinity Gauntlet, with all six stones, would be of colorless rare quality... but all of that was far in the future.
Kyle mused idly, waiting for the extraction countdown to end.
Three hours later.
‘3, 2, 1, extraction successful. Congratulations, you have obtained the [Space Stone].’
As the message echoed in his mind, the blue glow in the Cosmic Cube dimmed noticeably, as if its internal fire had vanished, leaving only residual energy behind.
Simultaneously, within Kyle’s personal card space—
The moment the colorless [Space Stone] card entered, it soared uncontrollably, like a radiant sun hanging at the highest point in the card space, overshadowing the brilliance of tens of thousands of cards in six major regions, proclaiming its supreme status.
"The card space must be the safest and most reliable storage in this world. Let the Space Stone rest there for now."
Kyle’s mental avatar gazed at the colorless [Space Stone] card in the card space, soon withdrawing from it.
Possessing the Space Stone did not automatically grant its power. For him now, it was like a child with a weapon of energy—using it before proper research would only backfire, as Red Skull himself had demonstrated.
No sooner had Kyle’s mind exited the card space than he noticed the Cosmic Cube in his hand, now devoid of the Space Stone, undergoing subtle changes.
The most obvious transformation was the card information displayed in his vision; the rarity shifted rapidly from colorless to gold.
Had it dropped in quality?
Kyle stared dumbfounded at the cube, which still glimmered faintly with blue light and mysterious aura but was far inferior to its former state.
The colorless [Cosmic Cube] card, after losing the [Space Stone] within, had devolved into a brand-new gold item card, even changing its name.
[Cube Container]:
Once a container for the Space Stone, one of the Infinity Stones, also known as the Infinite Cube. Gold item card.
Retains traces of spatial power, able to briefly open portals, though unstable and prone to spatial collapse. Usage leads to progressive damage.
Current status: Cannot be extracted (retains residual Space Stone power).
Kyle was silent for a moment, then shook his head and laughed, "Interesting."
This was an unexpected gain. Probably no one in the universe could have imagined the possibility of extracting the Space Stone directly from the Cube container without external damage.
"Wait, isn’t this a perfect trap for Thanos in the future?"
Kyle stroked his smooth chin. The Cosmic Cube was still intact, containing some residual energy of the Space Stone.
Tossing this empty shell away would save him a lot of trouble...
With that thought, a smile curled at Kyle’s lips.
He could already picture it: in the future, after Thanos struggled to obtain the Cosmic Cube, crushing it to embed the Space Stone in his Infinity Gauntlet, only to discover it was empty—how grim and ugly his face would be.
Having secured the Space Stone, Kyle considered this his greatest achievement and was ready to leave the Atlantic waters behind.
He gazed out at the endless sea and sighed, “Steve, it seems we really won’t meet again until more than half a century has passed.”
“Actually, there’s no need to worry. For you, it will be nothing more than a brief nap—open your eyes, and you’ll awaken in the peaceful era you always longed for.”
“The one left behind is me, who must press forward through this age of war.”
Kyle’s gaze grew resolute. He let Venom cover his body, morphing into a black combat suit, and summoned Blue Eagle to return.
After half a month’s disappearance, it was time to show himself again.
