Upon hearing that a breakthrough was possible, Su Xingyu finally retracted her flying sword. The sword’s tip traced a graceful arc in the air before settling steadily back into her storage pouch. She exhaled softly, yet a faint trace of annoyance lingered between her brows, clearly still upset about what had just occurred.

“Speak. What questions do you have?” Su Xingyu’s voice carried a hint of impatience.

Lin Fan smiled slightly, adopting an innocent and harmless demeanor. “Just some basic questions, like… what exactly is the world of cultivation like?” Although he had gained a rudimentary understanding of this world, it didn’t quite match the immortal cultivation realm he had imagined in his mind, leaving him somewhat unsettled. Of course, he could have asked Bai Xiyue and the others, but his true aim was to coax from Su Xingyu any method of concealing cultivation. After all, once he refined the magic within his body into true cultivation power, he risked revealing his real strength.

Su Xingyu pondered briefly. “The country we reside in is called the State of Chu.”

“In Chu’s cultivation world, there are three great sects, two factions, and seven major families. The three sects are naturally the Hehuan Sect, Qingyun Sect, and Bloodshard Sect. The two factions refer to…” She paused after mentioning the major sects, as if gathering her thoughts.

“Besides these large sects and factions, there are subordinate clans affiliated with each sect. Among these, seven are the strongest, known as the Seven Great Families.”

Lin Fan interjected curiously, “Is the Su family powerful too?”

Su Xingyu shook her head, her expression dimming slightly. “The Su family is a subordinate clan of the Hehuan Sect, but it’s quite small.”

“In Linjiang City alone, there are five small clans like the Hehuan Sect’s, and the Su family ranks at the bottom.”

Lin Fan nodded knowingly, silently calculating. He then asked, “Can you tell me about cultivation methods?”

“What’s there to say about cultivation methods? They’re just paths to cultivation. You’ve already reached Qi Refinement Stage One, so you should understand how to cultivate, right?” Su Xingyu looked at Lin Fan, puzzled.

Lin Fan scratched his head, feigning ignorance. “Of course I know how to cultivate, but cultivation methods must have many kinds, right?”

Su Xingyu nodded. “Yes, there are many types and grades. Some come with powerful spells.”

“For example, our Hehuan Sect’s Hehuan Immortal Technique includes the Illusory Spirit Spell, which can confuse the mind and trap one in an illusion with no escape.”

“There are also basic spells like Fireball, Wind Blade, Earth Wall, and supportive spells like Object Control and Conceal Breath…”

Lin Fan’s eyes brightened imperceptibly at the mention of the Conceal Breath Spell. He sensed this was the technique he sought—the one that could mask his true cultivation.

Delighted, he hurriedly said, “Can you explain these spells in detail?”

“Explain clearly, and I’ll risk harming my body to help you break through later!” He deliberately emphasized “risk harming my body,” his tone tinged with a noble willingness to sacrifice.

Patiently, Su Xingyu began with the most basic Fireball Spell, methodically explaining each technique to Lin Fan, who absorbed the unfamiliar knowledge with keen interest, like a dry sponge soaking up water.

“The Conceal Breath Spell is quite common in the cultivation world,” Su Xingyu explained. “Simply put, it conceals your cultivation, preventing others from discerning your true strength.”

“However, this spell is usually shallow; it’s easily seen through by those with profound cultivation.”

“But our Su family’s method contains a technique called the ‘Hidden Breath Art.’ Though only a fragment remains, its ingenuity lies in that as long as one’s cultivation does not exceed a certain great realm, it is utterly impossible to detect.”

Pride tinted Su Xingyu’s tone. Lin Fan’s heart leapt—this was exactly what he wanted. Yet his expression remained calm, replaced with a look of innocent curiosity.

“That sounds powerful. Do you know how to use it?”

Su Xingyu smiled slyly. “Naturally, I do.”

“But… this technique is a secret of the Su family, passed only to core disciples. It’s not shared lightly.”

Lin Fan rubbed his hands nervously. “Well… if I help you break through later, could you…”

Before he could finish, Su Xingyu raised a brow, a cold glint flashing in her eyes as she reached toward her storage pouch. Lin Fan realized it was unlikely he would extract cultivation secrets from her.

He waved his hand, shifting topics. “Then tell me about other spells…”

Time passed unnoticed. Morning’s first light filtered through the window lattice, casting a soft glow in the room. Su Xingyu had spoken all night, her throat now hoarse. She coughed lightly and reminded him, “Alright, dawn is near. You should help me break through now.”

Lin Fan blinked, then suddenly reached out and lightly tapped Su Xingyu’s smooth forehead with a finger.

“Tap!”

“Ouch! What are you doing?” she exclaimed.

Before she could react further, she felt the magic within her surge like a torrent breaking a dam, flowing wildly.

In an instant, she had broken through!

“All done,” Lin Fan said casually.

Su Xingyu stared at him as if he were a monster, her eyes filled with shock and confusion. She had no idea how he had accomplished this.

“No wonder my sister hid you so deeply; even I was unwilling to reveal this. Turns out you have this ability. If I were her… I might hide you away too!”

With that, Su Xingyu’s figure blurred, transforming into a streak of light before vanishing from the room. Her heart was a tumult of emotions—joy from the breakthrough mingled with anger over her lost innocence.

Returning to her quarters, she found Su Xingyue standing in the small courtyard, seemingly waiting for her. A tightening sensation gripped Su Xingyu’s heart, and she asked, somewhat guiltily, “Sister, why are you here?”

Su Xingyue appraised her from head to toe, surprise flashing in her eyes. “Huh? You broke through?”

“I was going to help you in a couple of days!” she added. “Didn’t expect you to do it yourself!”

Su Xingyu felt even more vexed. She knew exactly how her sister intended to help her break through but now had to pretend ignorance.

“How did you break through, sister?”

Lowering her voice mysteriously, Su Xingyue said, “This concerns the future of the Su family. You only need to know that I have a way to help you overcome your bottleneck. What it is, you’ll find out later.”

“Alright,” Su Xingyu forced down her frustration and asked, “Is there anything else you came for?”

“Mother sent me to find you. She wants to discuss the family’s contraction and focusing on cultivation…” Su Xingyue replied.

“Family contraction?”

Su Xingyu was stunned. This was serious. Contracting the family meant giving up some assets—no small matter.

“You’ll understand when you get there,” Su Xingyue said.
