Chapter 110: Fierce Battle (Please add to your library and recommend)
"Huff, huff, huff..." Lu Zhe flapped the expansive wings on his back, slowly rising into mid-air.
Watching Lu Zhe ascend, the man’s brow furrowed, his expression deepening with profound gravity. He felt as if he were no longer fighting a human, but a monster.
Clutching his chest, the man suffered from severe internal injuries caused by his abrupt attempt to halt his momentum moments ago. Having expended the majority of his spiritual energy to unleash two high-level "Xuan" grade techniques, followed by a grueling struggle with Lu Zhe, he was now struggling just to maintain his own flight. How could he possibly continue to battle this creature?
He swallowed hard, his face tightening with growing apprehension. His eyes twitched as he stared at Lu Zhe in the sky, a flicker of fear crossing his features, though he remained silent.
High above, Lu Zhe tilted his head back. His blood-red eyes, visible through his mask, locked onto the white-clad man in the distance. He parted his jaws slightly, then beat his wings, streaking toward his opponent with terrifying speed.
Seeing Lu Zhe hurtling toward him, the man in white drew a deep, ragged breath of the stifling air. He flared his earthen-yellow spiritual wings and dove forward to meet him.
"I’ll fight you to the death!"
The man shouted internally, his teeth gritted and his brows arched in a look of grim determination. Suddenly, his hands erupted with a blinding yellow radiance, as dazzling as the sun itself. It was clearly a trump card—a desperate, high-powered technique unleashed at the end of his tether. Its lethality went without saying; he was staking everything on this final blow.
As they streaked across the void, Lu Zhe let out a thunderous roar, and the two collided mid-air with a violent crash.
*BOOM!*
In an instant, an incomparable, blinding brilliance exploded from the point of impact, accompanied by a deafening roar. The onlookers below were forced to squint, shielding their eyes from the scorching light. The entire cavern shuddered.
The brilliant light faded as quickly as it had arrived. As the glare dissipated, the onlookers widened their eyes, anxiously searching the sky.
The two remained locked in a collision, their four arms pressed against each other, frozen in a stalemate. Suddenly, Lu Zhe’s wings shuddered, and he plummeted toward the ground.
"Did he... win?" someone from the crowd below shouted.
"No, wait!" another voice cried out.
Before the words had even faded, Lu Zhe, still falling, performed a mid-air somersault and landed firmly on his feet.
Once grounded, Lu Zhe looked up at the man in white, who was still suspended in the air. Lu Zhe’s mouth hung wide open; the crowd expected another roar, but instead, he let out a series of low, rhythmic sounds, as if calling out to something.
"What is happening?" The crowd was baffled.
Just as their confusion peaked, a tiny red dot appeared mere inches in front of Lu Zhe’s mouth. It was as vivid and translucent as a single drop of fresh blood.
Suddenly, strands of red light began to gather from all directions, converging into the point. The dot expanded at a visible rate, growing to the size of a ping-pong ball within moments.
The atmosphere shifted. The red orb ceased its absorption and began to rotate rapidly in front of Lu Zhe’s maw, glowing with a beautiful, crystalline intensity.
A moment later, Lu Zhe bit down on the spinning orb, holding it in his mouth. He hunched his back and lowered his head, his intentions unclear.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, Lu Zhe snapped his head up, his jaws wide, and a powerful pillar of red energy erupted from his throat, lashing out directly at the man in white.
"It’s the 'Beast King’s Wrath'!" someone in the crowd screamed.
"What?!" The exclamation rippled through the crowd, leaving them aghast. The Beast King’s Wrath was a signature technique exclusive to Beast Kings of the fifth rank and above. It was not only devastatingly powerful but, more terrifyingly, it was a guided attack that was almost impossible to dodge. Anyone struck by it—unless their cultivation was vastly superior—was doomed to a gruesome death. How could such a move be unleashed by a human?
"Run!" a man in his thirties shouted to the figure in the sky.
The man in white was struck with horror. He had anticipated many things, but not this. It was fundamentally impossible for a human to manifest such a technique. He was already at his limit; his previous final gamble had drained his remaining spiritual energy, as evidenced by his flickering, translucent wings. With his spiritual barrier gone, the agony of his internal injuries flooded back in, paralyzing him. His attempt to end the fight had backfired spectacularly.
Watching the pillar of red energy hurtle toward him, he offered a faint smile, the look of a man who had fulfilled his final wish and was ready to face the end.
"To think I would die at the hands of this brat," the man in white whispered, his voice tinged with bitter melancholy.
The beam drew closer. Just as it was about to incinerate him, a flash of white light appeared before him in the blink of an eye.
The sudden apparition startled the man, but when he recognized the newcomer, his eyes widened in surprise. "It’s you."
