“O Xinlai, you have to go! You’re no match for them. Remember to tell the clan leader what happened—don’t let them get away with this. Avenge us!” Ou Jinyun, consumed with hatred for Yun Lianqiao and her companions, knew escape was impossible. At the very least, someone had to survive to bring word of today’s events back to the clan.

“Go!” Ou Jinren and Ou Jinshen clearly shared the same thought. They all hoped Ou Xinlai could flee, preserving a sliver of strength. As long as she lived, their deaths wouldn’t be in vain. But if she died too, then all four of them would have died for nothing.

Ou Xinlai smiled. She’d always thought these three only cared for themselves, but at this critical moment, they weren’t dragging her down or begging her to save them—they wanted her to escape. Their characters, after all, weren’t so bad.

“Ou Jinyun, are you stupid? Why would you blurt out, right in front of them, that I’m no match for them? The three of you are already down—if they focus on me, do you think you can get away? Are you trying to save me, or are you setting me up?”

Ou Xinlai didn’t mean to look down on Ou Jinyun, but he really was lacking in wits. Since there was a chance, she figured she might as well teach the three boys of the Ou family a lesson.

Ou Jinyun was speechless—was this really the time to be arguing over such things?

Turning to Yun Lianqiao and her companions, Ou Xinlai said, “If possible, I’d like you to leave the way you came. I may not know how to fight, but I’m still quite formidable.” Her eyes sparkled, her brows arched in an adorable way—she was putting on a cute act.

Yun Lianqiao laughed. “You think you can just tell us to leave and we’ll go? And besides, if you can’t fight, what makes you so formidable?” In her eyes, this Ou family girl was the real fool—just listen to the nonsense she was spouting.

Ou Jinyun and the others were left speechless. What Ou Xinlai said was tantamount to inviting them to beat her up, to kill her—confessing she had no ability to fight back.

Hou San and Tao Mufeng exchanged a glance, and one of them stepped forward, intent on killing Ou Xinlai. Though she was quite pretty, women meant nothing to them.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Didn’t I tell you not to act rashly?” Ou Xinlai shook her head. Two dull thuds sounded as Hou San and Tao Mufeng collapsed to the ground, suddenly as helpless as newborn infants—bodies pitched forward, legs refusing to move.

“What did you do to them?” Yun Lianqiao quickly stepped back, watching Ou Xinlai warily. “You tricked me!” To have taken down Hou San and Tao Mufeng right in front of her, and so quietly, there was no way Ou Xinlai was as helpless as she claimed.

Ou Xinlai only smiled. She had spoken nothing but the truth; she really didn’t possess any supernatural abilities. The only reason she kept succeeding was because her enemies always underestimated her, never taking her seriously. She simply took advantage of this, and time after time, managed to strike.

If, from the start, these people had unleashed their supernatural powers and bombarded her, she might have been forced into a sorry retreat, hardly able to fight back.

Faced with Ou Xinlai’s smile, Yun Lianqiao’s confidence wavered. She was alone, yet Ou Xinlai had bested two men at once—clearly, this woman’s abilities surpassed theirs. In other words, she was stronger than Yun Lianqiao herself.

“Miss, you’d best stop thinking about it. I dislike bloodshed. Take your two companions and leave. From now on, let’s stay out of each other’s affairs.” Ou Xinlai, sensing Yun Lianqiao’s hesitation, offered a proposal that would benefit them both.

“Why should I believe you?” Yun Lianqiao eyed her with suspicion. The situation was clearly in Ou Xinlai’s favor—if she wanted Yun Lianqiao dead, it wouldn’t be difficult. So why let her go?

“Because you’re a woman. As the saying goes, why make things hard for each other? I’m giving you a chance. Of course, if you cross my path again, I won’t be so lenient.” Ou Xinlai explained, a little impatiently. “But if you don’t want to leave, that’s fine. I don’t like bloodshed, but that doesn’t mean I won’t cause it.”

Yun Lianqiao shuddered. She summoned a magical artifact, loaded Hou San and Tao Mufeng onto it, and fled in a hurry.

“Why didn’t you kill her?!” Ou Jinren demanded, frustrated beyond words.

Ou Xinlai shrugged. “Because I was afraid she’d kill me instead.” She pointed to a patch of violet lightning grass. The three men turned to look, only to witness a shocking sight.

The violet lightning array, which had previously been destroyed, had somehow reappeared. What’s more, within the array, a ring of electricity encircled countless silver needles, spinning ceaselessly.

All those needles had been fired by Ou Xinlai. For some reason, the array exerted a tremendous influence over her. While she’d been verbally sparring with Yun Lianqiao, she’d unleashed a thousand needles, but only a few had actually struck Hou San and Tao Mufeng.

Now, she was down to her last one. Judging by her earlier success rate, if she used it and failed to wound Yun Lianqiao, she’d be left defenseless.

Ou Jinshen drew a sharp breath. “Are you some sort of hidden weapon master? How is it possible to fire so many needles in such a short time?”
