Lin Lanxing noticed that Song Qinian hadn’t gone to the cafeteria or the Planning Department, and suspected she might have come to seduce Shen Chiyan. In a hurry, she rushed to Shen Chiyan’s office.

If Lin Lanxing caught Song Qinian trying to seduce Shen Chiyan in broad daylight, she would tear Song Qinian’s face apart without hesitation.

Hearing Lin Lanxing’s voice, Song Qinian’s body stiffened.

Shen Chiyan, however, remained completely unfazed, pressing harder against Song Qinian’s body.

He whispered cruel and hurtful words, “What, afraid Lin Lanxing will see?”

Song Qinian frowned, staring at Shen Chiyan. She wanted to gesture, but her hands were tied.

She wanted to say, “He’s not afraid, so why should she be? Even if there’s no love between them, they’re still legally married.”

“Chiyan Gege! Chiyan Gege…”

Amid Lin Lanxing’s urgent knocking and calling, Shen Chiyan finally ended the encounter.

He adjusted his pants, coldly glaring at the hastily dressing Song Qinian, “I told you to go to the Planning Department to work, not to seduce men. If you don’t want to work, then get lost.”

Without waiting to see if Song Qinian had finished dressing, Shen Chiyan walked over and opened the door.

Lin Lanxing, about to barge in recklessly, suddenly saw Shen Chiyan’s cold and aloof handsome face.

“Something you need?”

“Chiyan Gege, have you eaten? I want to have lunch with you and talk about my sister.”

As Lin Lanxing spoke, her eyes constantly glanced toward Shen Chiyan’s office, but Shen Chiyan was too tall; she looked left and right but couldn’t spot Song Qinian.

“Let’s go.”

“Huh?”

“Aren’t we supposed to eat?”

Lin Lanxing had just made up an excuse and didn’t expect Shen Chiyan to agree. She immediately nodded happily.

But her joy was short-lived when she heard Shen Chiyan’s emotionless voice, “From now on, call me President Shen at work.”

Shen Chiyan’s face showed no expression. Lin Lanxing wasn’t sure if he was warning or reminding her. She pouted and said pitifully, “Sorry, I’m just used to calling you Chiyan Gege.”

“Habits can be changed!”

Lin Lanxing: “...Got it.”

Inside the CEO’s office, after Song Qinian dressed, she felt increasingly stifled.

She saw the paper on the desk, picked up a pen, and angrily wrote a few big characters.

As she left, her hand accidentally brushed the mouse on the desk, causing the computer screen to light up.

If Song Qinian had delayed a moment longer or looked back at the computer, she would have seen that the screensaver was a starry sky she had drawn.

In the afternoon, when Shen Chiyan returned, his eyes immediately fell on the message Song Qinian had left.

“Shen Chiyan! You’re such a bastard!!!!!!”

The large exclamation marks underscored the writer’s fury.

Shen Chiyan snorted lightly, a faint smile creeping at the corner of his mouth without him realizing it.

He had thought she was a docile, obedient cat—finally, the little claws were showing.

...

Song Qinian hadn’t had lunch, and by afternoon hunger soured her mood.

At this moment, someone inconsiderate came to trouble her.

“Song Qinian, here’s an event plan. I want you to finish it this afternoon.”

The person was Xie Xueyi, who often asked Song Qinian for help since she joined the Planning Department.

Previously, Song Qinian had helped whenever she could, out of collegial kindness—rarely refusing anyone.

But now, Xie Xueyi’s attitude was no longer one of asking for help but issuing orders.

After slamming the plan book on Song Qinian’s desk, she left.

Seeing Xie Xueyi go chat with Lin Lanxing, who was provocatively staring at her, Song Qinian picked up the plan book and tossed it back to Xie Xueyi.

She also attached a note: “Sorry, I have something this afternoon and can’t help with this.”

Song Qinian turned to leave.

“Stop!”

Xie Xueyi called her back, holding the plan book up in front of her.

“Song Qinian, since you just joined the Planning Department, we’re giving you more work to help you train.”

“Yeah, everyone went through this, or how else would you improve?”

Miao Ziai sensed the tension and hurried over to mediate. She grabbed Song Qinian’s arm, whispering, “Nian Nian...”

Everyone’s eyes turned toward them, making Song Qinian unbearably uncomfortable.

It was as if, as a newcomer, she had to obey the senior staff; otherwise, she was ungrateful.

Though Song Qinian was usually gentle and unassuming, that didn’t mean anyone could treat her like a pushover.

Thinking it over, Song Qinian took the plan book and wrote on a piece of paper: “I can’t finish tonight. The latest will be first thing tomorrow morning.”

Xie Xueyi’s face brimmed with smugness, convinced that Song Qinian, the mute, dared not disobey.

“This plan needs to be used starting tomorrow. President Shen values it highly, so make sure it’s well done.”

President Shen values it?

Song Qinian smiled faintly and nodded.

To others, it seemed like she had given in.

Hmph, a rookie trying to go against the veterans—wasn’t she asking for trouble?

Back at her desk, Song Qinian heard Miao Ziai say, “Nian Nian, Xie Xueyi and their group are like that. When I first joined, I was bullied by them, too. But over time, or when new staff join, their focus shifts to others.”

“You think such bullying is normal?”

“No, no, I don’t mean that. Of course I’m against workplace bullying. But you know, new employees have no backing or experience. If they don’t obey, they simply can’t survive.”

Indeed, everyone verbally opposed workplace bullying, but no one dared truly stand against it for fear of trouble.

Some even hoped that as long as the bullies’ attention shifted, they’d be safe.

Without addressing the root of the problem, the number of victims would only grow.

Because Song Qinian was mute, she had endured much bullying since childhood but never tolerated it.

Now was no exception.

Since the other side clearly wanted to bully her, she saw no reason to endure it just to maintain colleague relations.

After work, Song Qinian rode her electric scooter home as usual. At a traffic light, she suddenly heard someone calling her.

“Song Qinian!”

She turned and saw Lin Lanxing’s smug, triumphant face in the passenger seat, with Gao Kunlun driving.

Song Qinian then noticed the car was Shen Chiyan’s Bugatti Veyron.

The rear window was up, so she couldn’t see inside, but she could sense Shen Chiyan was in the car.

“It looks like it’s about to rain. Can you get home on that thing before the rain comes?”
