Volume One, Chapter 24: The Clinic Under Fire
Upon hearing that Su Ningxia was saving up money for him to see a doctor about his leg, Su the eldest was so excited that he nearly leaped to his feet right then and there.
"Ningxia, are you serious? I truly haven’t doted on you for nothing, my little sister!"
Seeing Su the eldest about to be led astray, Su Tingxue quickly interjected, "I can help big brother too!"
Yet, at this moment, Su the eldest still felt a shadow lingering toward Su Tingxue, though it had certainly faded somewhat.
"Take care of your health, County Magistrate." Jia Cong took his leave, silent. Fan Lin was neither a good nor a bad official, merely someone shaped by the system. These feelings brought back memories of teacher-student bonds from his former life, tinged with regret and sorrow.
Imagine, then, what difference remains between humanity and the cold indifference of silicon-based life, once kinship, friendship, and love are stripped away?
"Damn you, you wretch!" Zhang Wu punched hard, his fist crashing into Ba Hei’s face, knocking out all the teeth on the right side.
They had already noticed this issue last time. Xiao Ruichen couldn’t say whether he admired or was grateful to them, but at least the disdain he’d felt five minutes ago had vanished completely.
Though the night was still and silent, the internet was unexpectedly ablaze. Comments had soared into the millions, yet, astonishingly, every single one was filled with venomous words.
Upon receiving the order, the two Yun Ninjas wasted no time, ignoring threats from Daiping Fujie and charging straight ahead.
"Brother, this thing of yours is too expensive. Lower the price a bit and I’ll buy it," Yun Ji stepped forward and said to the burly man.
"My cousin is straightforward—if he can do it, he’ll fulfill any request." Laurenna spoke rapidly, explaining Robert’s character.
Zhang Lu, tense for so long, smashed his cup in frustration, cursing the Yizhou army as shameless and untrustworthy. Not only Zhang Lu, but the players of the other four armies were equally furious, berating Yun Ji for going back on his word—he’d issued the quest, but now it couldn’t be completed.
The nomadic cavalry retreated in terror, and then Zhang Yi’s troops began to land. Once ashore, they didn’t set up camp, but deployed a formation of bows and crossbows, advancing in a phalanx once their powerful weapons were arranged.
In the corridor outside the office, a heap of shadows was wrapped entirely in a huge blanket, an electric heating pad plugged in, shivering like a sieve.
But since Tang Wei stood over one meter eighty-five, and with Nangong Yu’s slender arms and legs, the difference between the two was striking when they stood together.
The first thing Mo Xi did upon returning to the dormitory was head to the kitchen. She had no idea when this storm would end, so before it did, she needed to absorb as much spiritual energy as possible.
Black blood seeped from the shrubbery, flowing onto the road and merging with the puddle already there. Soon, the outline of a skeleton appeared on the ground.
The sound of rushing water grew louder, and Zhuer abruptly realized that the water, once only ankle-deep, now reached above her knees.
Ning Xiang felt certain the day would not end well; she clearly saw Madam Jiang’s gaze toward Bie’er turn cold and piercing.
Meanwhile, Prince Bei Han, Bei Qi, waited until the group had gone before slowly picking himself up from the ground.
"Well then, Le Yao, why don’t you introduce Director Zhang to Meng Yuan and Brother Le as you see him?" Nangong Yu turned and addressed Le Yao.
The gloom was instantly dispelled. Among them, a monstrous beast of bizarre shape lashed its body, shooting forth beams of light like sudden rain—these rays burst from the creature itself.
She glanced at the thick stack of papers—deeds of houses and lands. Wait, Number 88 East Avenue? That address seemed oddly familiar.
Chen Feng looked at Kaislo, while the soldiers’ roars echoed nearby. At that moment, he felt utterly frustrated, wondering how he could be so unlucky. He’d acted out of kindness, rushing into the beam of the magic crystal cannon to minimize casualties, but ended up a complete mess.
