Chapter 1

In the 30th century, an unknown celestial body collided with Earth, triggering explosions and radiation… Amid this colossal disaster, humanity underwent a transformation known as the "Torso Mutation"—bodies mutated into animal forms: frog-like humans, tiger-headed beings, mermaid physiques…
After centuries of genetic rewriting and optimization, this human mutation evolved from catastrophe into what was called [Genetic Evolution].
Humans gained the ability to consciously control their bodily mutations, freely switching between normal human form and mutated states. Mutation became humanity’s supernatural power.
On this day in 3134, Shen Chuyi was especially grateful for this human evolution.
With a sudden gunshot, she sprinted down a rain-soaked casino street; her feet abruptly morphed into goat hooves. She kicked off her shoes and swiftly turned into a dead-end alley on the right.
Her black goat hooves struck the wall, leaping over the high barrier wired with electric nets in a few bounds. With a loud thud, she landed hard, crashing into a heap of mechanical scrap piled like a small mountain, sliding down with the debris.
“There’s an electric net on the wall! Take the detour!”
“Catch her and chop off those hooves!”
Outside the wall, a group cursed amid the downpour. “Shen Chuyi, if you want to keep living in F City, just keep running! Dare cheat on Boss Zhao’s turf and you’re asking for death!”
These men were the casino’s enforcers.
“Let me make this clear again.” Shen Chuyi leaned against the scrap heap, catching her breath. “You can insult my character, but don’t insult my gambling integrity. I don’t do low-skill cheating tricks.”
“Shen Chuyi, don’t run! Just give back the watch and we’ll drop it!” The watchdogs bargained relentlessly.
Shen Chuyi lifted her right wrist to look at the diamond-encrusted luxury watch. Though the men’s watch was oversized on her wrist, it did not diminish its sparkling brilliance.
A fully diamond-studded Bell Jade watch—on the black market, it could fetch at least 800,000 credits. Eight hundred thousand! She’d rather die than return it.
She had won it fairly, albeit with a touch of her special mutation power, but it was never cheating. She was thankful for humanity’s genetic evolution.
“If you can’t afford to lose, don’t gamble. How can you claim cheating just because you lost?” Shen Chuyi wiped rain from her face and looked across the junkyard to a towering crystal skyscraper.
In the storm, it glowed like a virtual screen, broadcasting a government press conference. The police chief’s beautiful face appeared, framed by short silver hair and amber eyes. Rumor had it her mutation form was a polar wolf. Her cold, clear voice came through the screen:
“…Though Professor Zhang Dian has withdrawn from the Special Crime Unit, we have invited new profiler agents to join. Please trust that we will solve this case quickly and protect every citizen of A City…”
The shifting lights illuminated the dark junkyard into a wasteland.
The city Shen Chuyi lived in was not the prestigious and peaceful A City, but F City—just across the river—a lower-class city known as A City’s garbage dump, home to the notorious gambling street and the Bunny Girl Grand Bar.
She glanced once more at the “eight hundred thousand” and calculated inwardly that it was enough for a down payment in A City, enough to secure a prestigious A City resident identity.
This gamble was truly worth it.
She rose happily and was about to scale the wall to escape when her foot stepped on something vibrating and lighting up.
She lifted her hoof and saw a flashing object stuck in the mud—an advanced terminal wristband, brand new.
She picked it up and wiped it clean, unsure if it still worked.
Nowadays, wristbands combined the functions of phones, computers, and identity terminals, and were very expensive. She was still using a cheap second-hand one.
Not picking up something she found outside would be like losing it. Shen Chuyi tried the terminal on her wrist, adorned with the diamond watch, to see if it worked. Unexpectedly, the wristband automatically snapped on.
A “ding” sounded, her wrist stung briefly, and the flashing screen froze. Then a mechanical electronic voice whispered into her ear: “Rebinding complete.”
Rebinding complete? She instinctively tried to remove it but heard distant barking—dogs from the junkyard. The thugs must be closing in.
Without hesitation, she jumped toward the west wall, vaulted over another barrier, and dashed home through back alleys.
Home was a modest notion—just a three-story low-rent apartment building partitioned into 30 to 40 small rooms for rent, sharing a bathroom and toilet, cheap and without identity registration, filled with undocumented residents.
Shen Chuyi rented a slightly better room with a private bathroom. She rigged a pipe in the cramped bathroom to shower.
On this stormy night, the apartment was plunged into darkness; a few tenants hadn’t paid their electricity bills, so the landlord cut the power.
Shen Chuyi took a quick shower in the dark, not daring to remove the diamond watch. Wearing it gave her peace of mind; besides, it was waterproof.
Afterward, lying on her narrow single bed, she fiddled with the terminal wristband and found it still worked. The previous owner was a girl named Shen Yulan, about her age.
The wristband held no bank accounts, contacts, or apps—only one called [Gene Zoo].
She tried opening [Gene Zoo]. A virtual screen unfolded before her eyes, white starlight spinning, then after three seconds displayed: [Game Activated] [Dream Card Activated] [Please select your target].
Four 3D options appeared in the white starlight: first, a snow-white polar wolf wearing a muzzle; second, a red-eyed rabbit with drooping ears panting lightly; third, a male lion with bleeding eyes; fourth, a pair of dark red beast eyes in a pitch-black aquarium.
Only the fourth option was marked [Unavailable for capture].
This seemed like a dating simulation game? The first three were catchable; the fourth was off-limits.
Why include an uncapturable option? Surely it was a hidden Easter egg meant to mislead players.

Shen Chuyi clicked directly on the fourth option. Instantly, a message popped up: [This character cannot be captured. Do you wish to continue and consume your only Dream Card?]
Without hesitation, she chose [Yes].
With a “ding,” the wristband vibrated, and without warning, her vision darkened, her body losing weight—
Before a scream could escape, she plunged into water. Darkness engulfed her as the cold water swallowed her. Instinctively, she grabbed something.
Just as she stabilized underwater, the object in her palm suddenly moved, coiling around her arm.
What was it?
Panicking, she struggled, but the more she fought, the tighter the coils wrapped her arm. More strands of the “thing” entwined around her waist and legs.
At the same time, a burning-hot body collapsed into her arms, emitting labored breaths. Countless tiny sounds echoed in the water—
“What is this? It’s cold and so comfortable.”
“Hooves, hard hooves.”
“Fur!”
“Soft fur, curly fur…”
Shen Chuyi realized the “things” were tentacles exploring her goat hooves, curling fur, and body, making strange noises as they burrowed into her soft, curled goat hair.
She stopped struggling, knowing the strength of the coils could crush her organs—the more she resisted, the tighter the grip.
She blinked; in the darkness, her ordinary eyes transformed into golden, horizontal-pupiled goat eyes, shining brightly.
This was her unique mutation ability: the goat’s eye could see in darkness and magnify the tiniest details. It was thanks to this power that she always won at gambling.
Now, with these eyes, she clearly saw the “things” in the water—black octopus-like tentacles crowded around a man who had fainted in a massive bathtub, eagerly exploring her hooves, fur, and body with tiny suckers.
Each tentacle seemed to be making noises.
“Is this dog fur?”
“No, dogs don’t have hooves. It’s a cow.”
“Cow fur isn’t soft.”
“The fur’s wrapping me…”
“I touched human skin, cold and smooth…”
One tentacle slid up from her thigh, tracing her soaked pajamas like a probe toward her neck. Shen Chuyi instinctively grabbed it, squeezing hard in her palm. The tentacle shrieked, its suckers popped water with a “pop,” curling and trembling in her grasp.
Suddenly, all tentacles screamed underwater, making “pop pop” sounds as the suckers clutched sensitive spots, withdrawing simultaneously.
The man collapsed painfully against her, curling and slipping into the water.
Shen Chuyi finally saw the man’s face—an astonishing visage, flawless skin tinged with unnatural redness, submerged like an enchanting siren. Even the exposed collarbone beneath his black robe shimmered with mother-of-pearl luster.
Being quite sensual, she was mesmerized for two seconds.
Then realization struck: she’d seen this face before—in the media and onlineI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
